Any Marshall Vintage Modern owners/fans here?

I just picked one of these up the other day and I think its a great, underrated amp! It doesn't quite have the thump of an 800, but is more manageable at lower volumes. Pricewise, they are reasonable on the used market. I still haven't had a chance to dial it in, but the few minutes I played it, I was impressed. Any thoughts or suggestions on settings? Thanks.

Love the purple tolex :) I have a VM 4x12 cab. The head kinda of wasn’t my thing but the cab was.

I wouldn't mind a vintage modern. I'd like to throw some heat at the modern setting switch and have the best of both worlds - vintage for when I feel like it and flamethrower otherwise.

Basically, I'm a fan. Just no need for one with my current 74 project.

I had the purple 100 watt head and liked it a lot..Sold it later to fund a Metro-Plex.

I've got a 2466 head...it's usually my go-to amp even though I've got a number of different heads. I'll dial it in for nice cleans on the low dynamic range setting, but you can also crank the pre-amp volumes to get on the edge of break-up and boost it with a pedal. The high dynamic range setting sounds great to be for heavier things as well. I usually like the detail control a few notches higher than the body control, but I love the versatility of it. Enjoy it!

I'd love to find a good deal on one of those cabs. There is a half stack available locally. Seller won't break them up. Don't think the head is for me.

I'm really liking it a lot. I can't think of many 50 watt heads you can find on the used market for under $700 that are better. I'd love to find a matching cabinet for it.

The amp has a slight buzz, and it's more noticeable when I turn up the Detail knob. I took the back off and it looks like it has the original power tubes, two original preamp tubes and two others. Since its a 2007, I ordered all new tubes for it. I was pretty happy with the way it sounded but after new tubes/bias, I bet it's going to scream..

Don't know much about the amps, but the 4x12 cabs are fantastic. They're loaded with G12-C's, which is a 25watt greenback with a slightly different voice from the standard G12M. I believe they were developed for the Hendrix reissue cabs, and were only available in those cabs, and the VM cabs.
Really good sounding speakers.
The VM cabs are all birch construction, but they have a particle board back. This actually gives the cabs a bit more thump, and combined with the unique mids from the speakers, these are the best greenback cabs I've ever heard for heavier music.
And they're purple!
