I really like how my JP6 plays and feels compared to my other guitars and its usually the guitar I go to first.

But recently I started playing one of my other guitars (PRS Cu24) and I noticed how much the gain went up. Partly because I believe the pickups on the PRS are a little hotter, but also I think since the JP6 doesn't have a pickup ring and directly mounted to the guitar body. The JP6 pickup is pretty low, much further away from the string than I would like.

Has anyone else noticed this? Or have you raised the pickups, and what did you put under the pickup to do so?

To raise the pickups, get longer screws and longer springs. I would think that they would be long enough from the factory to raise it to an optimum level, but if not, they can be purchased for cheap.

In short, yes, and I do have a couple of PRS guitars, but these are exceptionally hot when compared to anything else I own. I always felt like the JP6 had just the right amount of output to allow for more control from the guitar to the amp, even on higher gain settings.

Yeah, I noticed this compared to my EBMM Axis and some other guitars. I kinda dig it though. The guitar feels tighter and more focused while my others sound more raw.
