Any NYC-area techs who can fix an A/DA Stereo Tapped Delay?

I didn't put the model name, "STD-1", in the title, because... now is not the time for venereal disease cure jokes! Later, maybe.

Anyway, I purchased an A/DA STD-1 from a Gear Pager, and it arrived yesterday. My elation turned to devastation when I was only able to elicit little more than slapback echo from this unit!

I spent hours trying every conceivable switch configuration and knob manipulation (remember, no V.D. jokes, please!), but I can't get the modulation section of this delay to do anything.

The delay taps are still assignable, left and right, but I can't conjure any of the rich chorus or flanging that made this unit legendary. Several of the knobs seem to have zero effect, so to speak.

I know that the BBD chips in these A/DAs are extinct, but I'm guessing that something else needs mending.

The seller is the original owner, and he was unaware that the unit had any modulation capabilities, so maybe it was defective from the factory. He suggested that I have a tech take a look at it.

I'm hoping that there's a tech who can take a look at it, and then do something other than just shake his head! Ideally, it would be someone in the NYC/northern-central NJ area.

This unit was not cheap, and I am not particularly happy (to say the least)!
Any tech suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot!

What about Trace at VoodooAmps? I realize he isn't in NYC be he's relatively close as the crow flies   .
