I was thinking lately about possibly picking one up. I think 18W would be great seeing as i don't play out.
I saw some vids from TGP, but was wondering if any of you guys had tried one.

Yep..they kick ass. Not at all what you would expect in the crunch dept. from EL84's, and exactly what you would expect with nice chimey cleans...the power scaling works great. More than enough volume on tap.

I played one while demoing and jonseing on D13's....it sounded better, I should've bought one then (instead of yesterday ;) )

The Steve Stevens demo was recorded into a 1x12 loaded with a Celestion Gold.

That Steve Stevens demo sounds awesome!!! I wonder if the badger needs boosting to cop that gain/tone?

Nope....that clip is freaking HUGE :scared: When I was demoing it with my Les Paul it pretty much sounded just like that, no pedals needed.

Stevens talks about the clip:

"This amp is so easy to record that all that was required really was to program some drums and a quick bass track. Guitars used were my white Les Paul Standard with my Bareknuckles Rebel Yell pickups with the end part featuring a Gibson Console slide guitar.

Mics were Royer ribbon & Shure 57. No eq was used...honestly NONE. The audio file was then mastered in Logic Waveburner...nothing drastic.

The Badger is plain and simple a recording guitarist's dream. It is so true and real without any hint of fake distortion. I think you kind of have to be a reasonably good player to appreciate this amp because you can't hide behind silly gain etc. It is dead quiet as well. Huge thanks, man. I LOVE this amp."

The amp is plenty loud, maybe not playing with a hard hitting drummer loud unless it's mic'ed, but more than loud enough for small gigs / home.

Check out the Nick Sterling clip on here too (scroll down to sound clips)

Now I have to decide if it's worth selling the Splawn for :(

Na...i'm not going to go through that hassle ;)

Besides, I'd never be able to get one at the price I paid.

I think i would really enjoy the Badger amp, those clips really do sound friggin awesome! I use an R7 Goldtop Les Paul too, so that would sound nice with it.

Original owner of Badger #10. Best low volume tones I've ever had. Takes pedals great, which is how I choose to use it. I would alternate bewteen the Badger and the Splawn at band practice. The Splawn has much more ass, but the Badger has a great feel that makes playing it a blast.

Would you say the Badger is close to a Splawn tone-wise?

No. The Badger has its own thing going on, but has a solid foot in the Marshall camp and one in vox. The Badger is not as tight as the Splawn. The Splawn sounds bigger 100 watts will do that. The Badger has adds grease to the notes. The amp is very musical. I always play it w/ a OD in front and can get some great tones from blues to metal. I like the fact that the powerscaling feature doesn't just allow you to dial in great tube tone at low volumes, but also allows you to add compression. I would say these amps are really different animals, but I dial them both to get me into 80's metal. The badger is a real versatile amp. It will do great blues and has a sponge to it. Through a pedal in the front and the ass end tightens up. I can't imagine an amp that could beat the Badger for home use. In a band contents for the type of music I play their are amps that will sound bigger and louder, but the Bagder sounds great miced up. I've also played it unmiced and had plenty of room to increase to volume if necessary. Suhr just released a 30 watt version of the Badger w/ EL34's. I am very interested in this amp!
