Any Peters owners here?

Heard those NJ amp fest clips, and that Peters sounds fantastic. Wondered if there were any owners here who could comment on what they feel like (as tough as that may be).

I own the Gryphon and Chimera. That was my Chimera on the ampfest videos.

I find that some high gain amps can feel kind of sterile in how they respond. These aren't like that. They "feel" like a more classic amp in the way that they respond to your playing and articulation, but they can obviously sound very focused and aggressive. Notice how the Chimera in the videos goes from 80's Shred/EVH tones (when psychodave played it with his Charvel), to down-tuned Brewtal metal (when Exafro played it with his 7-string) so easily? It really responds differently to different guitars/pickups/players/etc.

Another thing about it, is it does not feel too compressed, and klanky. Psychodave's Cameron Aldrich was right next to it, and Dave played through it with his Charvel as well. It sounded great, but it sounded VERY compressed compared to the Chimera. Nothing wrong with that at all, and I'm not taking anything away from the Cameron. Some people might prefer one or the other. So, if you're looking for a Really compressed feeling amp, it might not make you as happy. You could always use a boost to add that extra compression if that's what you want, I guess. I just find that it has just the right amount of compression in the right ways to make it comfortable to play, but not overly compressed where it fights against your dynamics and articulation. It's apparent right away, when you play it.

I don't know how else to describe it. I'm not great at describing these things. I hope this helped a bit.

That was a great description, thank you for taking the time. What I liked most was the open sound....it definitely brought the KERRAAANG!

How's the low end? Fairly tight? In the video (and I'm thinking it was just the camera speaker) it sounded like it farted out a bit.

That was definitely my camera distorting. It wasn't farting out at all. The Chimera is very punchy and focused.

EL34's. I'm pretty sure they are Electro Harmonix. The preamp tubes are Sovtek 12AX7WC. I haven't tried any other tubes in the Chimera yet.

The amps feel great. I've got a Chimera and old Warhawk they've got the right amount of "give" and the right amount "stiffness". I am running Svetlana 34's in mine and Sovtek WC's in the Chimera and WC's and JJ's in the Warhawk (has more tubes and a dedicated clean channel)

Not yet , just waiting to see if my 003LE sells on ebay . If so I'll order the new 100watt Halo/Chimera . I am gassing big time for this amp !

Noseminer has a 2 channel halo(I think)/chimera. I played it for a while at psychodave's hom back in November. There's a knob that changes the feel of the amp, but I don't remember what the knob is called. It adjusts the attack and while doing so slightly alters the voicing.

I really, REALLY liked that amp.

It has tone and warmth to it. Regarding touch sensitivity, it is easier to play than a Marshall, but I found it slightly harder to play than the Cameron. Keep in mind that I like to use pedals, so I tend to keep the amps gain down and use the pedal to add compression. Bottom line: I will own a Peters Chimera in the near future.

Can you do legato type stuff on the Peters as easily as on the Cameron, or do you need to push it a little more?

Actually that works out better for me.... once I've gotten it in, it will blend in with the rest of the herd much better then the short head, which would stick out like a sore thumb.
