I have been a fan for a while now (been getting into Rockabilly for a while now). I went to their show last night. What an awesome concert!! Jim Heath tore it up last night a Jimbo was amazing on the stand up bass. Seriously, if you are ever teetering on seeing these guys, do yourself a favor and go see them. I know we are all into rock and metal but I love this stuff.

If you aren't familiar with them here is a good place to start. The solo section is just awesome!

Saw them in State College, PA back in the mid-90's...awesome show! He played his Grtesch (pre sig model 6120) through a silverface Super...sounded great.

Hellyeah, bout time somebody mentioned some good music.
I get sick of hearing about Dokken and 80's hair.
If you like "Heat" give a listen to Southern Culture on The Skids, you'll dig that too.
I'm really glad you dig that, and music like that is fun to play.always pack the house playing "Billy music"

Yep, he's a killer guitarist and makes great music, been a fan since mid ninetees. liquor in the front poker in the rear. lol.

Southern Culture on skids..

Rev. Horton Heat is awesome. Baddest Of The Bad and 400 Bucks are two of my favorite tunes.

I was thinking of posting this exact thread! I put a list of some of my ipod contents in the "does your musical taste jump around" thread, and the Reverend was one of them. I'm surprised I haven't seen his name pop up here before.

The first time I saw him was at the Double Door when he was touring for "smoke 'em if you got 'em". I was blown away!
The guy was singing with a cigarette hanging out of his mouth, jumping around putting on a great show, and just flat out playing his ass off without missing a beat.

Absolutely worth checking out live (been to many RHH shows, always have a blast) and on record if you haven't!

Big fan of their drummer Paul(Pauly) Simmons. He cut the drum tracks on my bands first CD. Super cool guy, and a smokin' drummer.

400 Bucks just rocks!
Remember when you said "Honey, some day that car is gonna look so good in front of our house"...Bitch! I want my 400 dollars!
Awesome tunes. I have to listen to "big sky" and "baddest of the bad" one after another though!

Definitely. I was thinking of lyric contents when I typed that:

'Young girls and gin may be the cure. Young girls and gin may be the cure...'

And 'I lay around here and I just drink beer...'

They (the band) have the perfect blend of kickass music and a good sense of humor.

Huge fan here. I see them whenever I get the chance. Which is often here in Dallas

LOVE it! Beyond the already mentioned playing....his lyrics & melodies are fantastic!

Totally! I actually had the DJ play "Martini Time" at my wedding last year when the bar opened back up after dinner!

One of my favorite songs is Where In The Hell did You Go with My Toothbrush. Awesome ballad. Galaxy 500 and Five O Ford are others.

Like anyone who plays rockabilly he stands in the all encompassing shadow of Setzer but the Rev shines his own individual light. Great stuff

I saw them the last time they came to PDX, a few months ago. Absolutely ripped. Love RHH. Toothbrush, Bales of Cocaine, Big Dwarf Rodeo are all faves.
