Any tonal differences between different modded amps?

Does anyone know if these mods make every amp sound the same or will each amp will retain it's original character?

For example, I had a Mojave Peacemaker and it sounded nothing like my Metropoulos. Of they are both modded will they sound identical at that point or will the base tones still be Mojave and Metro? I'm thinking somewhat different due to the transformers and parts used in the original build, but what do I know

between playing/owning three totally different Friedman-modded amps,i can say that Dave does an excellent job at making one mod, such as the "Brown Eye" or "Hairy Brown Eye",sound VERY VERY close in tone between all the amps.naturally, there will be some subtle differences, such as low-end girth, between 50 watt & 100 watt amp "trannies" but overall the mods really do come out sounding alike, while the amp still retains some of it's natural inherent tone.regardless of the amp-in-question's "stock" tone,Dave knows what the specific mod tone should sound like in his head,so he'll make the necessary changes with capacitors/resistors,for each & every amp,to attain that "sound" :) ....that's why Dave is an "amp guru" who "makes a living" with his talents and i am just a guy that sits here typing on a computer, eating potato chips & periodically watching rerun episodes of the late 70's tv show "Battlestar Galactica" ;)

I try to make the amps sound like what I hear in my head. There are some differences depending what you give me. Some times there are happy accidents. I sometimes just mod whats there and see what it sounds like. If its cool I keep it if it sucks I start changing things and try and beat it into submission.

ok Dave so what amp sounds the best that you mod?

In your opinion?

Well the slp reissues come out great but so do many others

I guess what I meant was the feel or certain characteristics of the individual amp. For example, Roccafortes have a low end that I've never hear in any other amps. Will that be lost? Or if a stock amp has a more harmonically rich/3D than another stock amp, will they more or less be equal in that dept after the mods?

Yeah it retains some of the amps character and you get a new twist on it.

I'm loving my KS modded Metropoulos '68. So many great tones. I think the only thing I'd want in addition is a modded 50W or your 50W Marsha when I have the cash.
