I am trying to figure out build/product dates for my old dinky's. Here is the link...

http://www.jacksonguitars.com/support/serialnumbers_productdating.php

How do I know whether mine are custom shop models or just the regular bolt on neck dinky's? They do not say "custom shop" on the headstock. The pile of skulls is serial number 001465 and the gold top is 7117. Both have the Jackson address in Ontario, CA on the neck plate. Pics...

I am thinking about selling the gold top becuase I don't play it but I wanted more info on both so I can make a decision...

Thanks!

I am not sure when they put the "cs" on the headstocks as it was not always done in the past.

Stratotone, Sah5150, or Chubtone are the Charvel/Jackson nuts here, hopefully they can chime in.

My guess is that the goldtop was special ordered. Pile-o-skulls was a production paintjob for many years but the s/s/h may make it more rare.

Man,that goldtop looks killer man!!!!
I am trying to convince myself to sell it because I never play it but it is so darn cool so I don't know what to do...

I can't help you with the cs thing but that gold top is killer. I have never seen one like that. Very cool!

Jackson did not begin making production guitars until the early 90's...up until that point, they were all "custom shop" instruments. The actual custom shop designation didn't begin until sometime in the 90's.

Gold Top Jackson Custom Shop bolt on 1989 Onatrio CA.

Pile O' Skulls Jackson USA production bolt on 1991 Ontario CA

Thanks guys. Now I have to figure out a price for that gold top. I love it but I don't play it and amp GAS is just never ending...
