Now that would need the leather pants to be brought back!

IMO neckthrough is more smooth of a tone, it does not have that bolt-on snap which is why I sold my jackson soloist. Not all maple is bright as well, does have more upper mids though but pups can fix things up. You can always think Lynch when looking at maple.

firebirds and the like do tend to be a bright sounding instrument. johnny winter has used one for years. the lead player with montgomery gentry uses them as well.. and so did one of the guys in skynyrd. changing pups could darken it down a bit if you don't like the stock offerings.
