Anybody try Gold Lion EL84's?

Wonder how these are? My favorite CP EL84's are the Chinese/TAD/Ruby EL84's. They seem to have the least amount of cloudy low mids and more high and bottom end extension.

Wonder if these Gold Lions are any good.

If you haven't tried the Russian military 6n14n/6pi14pi, the plain one with no suffix like "-EV" then you might give 'em a shot. Dr. Z ships them in the Z Wreck and Ken Fisher swore by them.

My dad ran JJ EL84's in his Guytron and settled with the TAD's...I tried both of those in my Orange Brent Hinds Terror but the OG Russian glass prevailed.

That particular tube was head and shoulders better than the JJ and TAD, not even close. The Gold Lion is just another Mike Matthew's new-production offering, and in my experience, the new stuff does not sound as good as pre-Gorbachev military stock.

What do those Russian tubes sound like? What's the EQ curve like? Everybody seems to rave about those, but I haven't read anything specific like "it's got more highs" or "it's got more lows" or something of the sort. Care to elaborate, please?
