I'm currently running mine into a mesa recto cab. Time for a change. I know friedman offers a 2x12 w v30s but worried I'd be getting the same dark sound I'm getting from the recto. Any suggestions. Does friedman offer the 2x12 w different speaker combinations like one greenback and one v30? Or is that not a good combo?

I do use a 2x12 with the BE. It is a Gladius 2x12, loaded with a G and a H Scumback. The cab itself is a special Thiele ported one. Sounds amazing, especially at lower volumes. Highly recommended!

Using a Bogner OS with a V30 and H75 with a JJ100.
Rocks.
The Bogner is more open and less middy than the Mesa.
The Mesa mas more mids, less articulation, not as big. Cuts through nice, though.
Another nice cab is a Germino 2x12. Mather cabs can make you a nice one for cheap.
You might try adding an H75 to the Mesa 2x12 for more highs and less mids.
The GB/V30 combo is a good one, but won't handle 100 watts.
Good luck!

Using Mesa Recto 2x12 with V30s and sounds amazing. I run presence at 5 at least and sounds big and open.
I was worried it might not be heard on stage well enough but it cuts through the loud stage volume just fine ... and that's with another guitar in the band and a very loud, hard hitting drummer.

I wanted to get a Bogner OS but Mesa was cheaper, came with casters and cover and I got a great deal on a trade-in.
Don't regret getting it at all, sounds amazing.

Previously I was using my BE-100 with a Bogner 4x12 straight but that was just too big and heavy to lug to shows and places we play have tiny stages so 2x12 is a must, even 2x12 sometimes is hard to fit with another guitar and bass cab + drums.

I have a Friedman 2x12 & as you stated, it's 2 x v30's. It's a very warm sound & obviously perfectly suited to my BE100. I guess you could always swap in 1x 25w but I don't feel the need to.
You won't get the same sound as the Mesa - they're different cabs made for different amps.

I also run a Bogner closed back 2x12 (the oversized cab) & it's amazing. You can grab some of these on the various auction websites

I usually run my BE100 with my little recto 2x12 and I wouldn't call it dark. Of course, I may hear things differently...I really dig it.

Last week I had the chance to try it it with several 4x12s...a couple of Diezels and Marshalls with various configs. I really liked basic 1960B with the "Uber" configuration of 2 V30 and 2 75s. I cannot say the amp sounded bad with any of them, just some sounded preferable to me.

Sorry I should have specified. I'm runnimg it with a mesa 4x12 oversized recto cab and feel it's a little dark plus I'm sick of lugging the 4x12. Thanks for the recommendations. Anybody ever use scum back speakers and cabs?

I'm running mine with the Mesa 2X12 rectifier and as someone already mentioned, there's a lot of mids ( simple re-eq fixes that). Boost the bass and treble, dip the mids and it rocks ! :)

You're not missing much with the Mesa cab. I had the recto when I got the Bonger OS, and compared them directly, even made a video so I could hear the difference in different locations, different amps and volume settings. If I had it to do again, dunno if I'd get the Bogner. I like it better, but it's bigger and cost me $150 extra. It sure does look better with the JJ100 than the Mesa cab would though:

Yea I think I want to try a cab with somthing different than v30s. I don't think I'd go mesa to bogner think they'd still be similar. What about throwing 2 greenbacks in my recto cab d pattern? Anybody do that?
