These seem to be love/hate. I'm definitely a Marshall guy, but these are getting more if my attention, as the seem to sound fatter, which I'd have to really crank the Marshall to get.

What's thoughts on the Blackstar doing Mercyful Fate, 80's thrash, (Anthrax, Testament, Overkill) kinda thing??

I prefer the clearer sound of a Marshall. Played in a band awhile back with a guy who had an HT100 halfstack and he could never seem to dial in a decent tone. Seeemd like no matter what he did it always sound harsh. Maybe a better cab woulda helped.

I wrote this in another thread earlier in the year, in fact it was your own thread with the same topic

"Blackstar sounds great in the room when you first plug it in, but when you compare to other amps the weakness in tone becomes way more apparent, especially in a band or recorded mix. I had an Ht100 once and it's a good amp, but the tone is a bit lifeless, it's like halfway between Marshall and Mesa while lacking the character of either (even with the ISF knob). There's a synthetic sound to it. They make awesome practice combos, but I could never use it as my main tone."

Just take my word for it also as a Marshall guy, you'll end up not liking it. I've had the HT100 and also the HT Dual pedal so I've definitely given it a chance.
