Anybody using one of the old Boss GE-10 in front of their amps? Does it add anything at all to the tone? Is it worth buying one in good shape or should I just go with a new Boss EQ-200?

Fellow masshole, the 10 is great, can't speak for the 200 though.
I always put my EQ in the loop instead out front.

I did, and I found it to be the most transparent EQ I've owned. I've had the GE7, MXR(not the vintage blue) and Danelectro. Way better than any of those. I put it in front..it can be subtle or set to roar.

HAHA!! Yes fellow masshole here LOL. Ive been using a MXR silver 10 band EQ and its decent for sculpting the low end before my Bog Fish. Was curious to know who might be actually putting these monsters to use.

I like it out front. The only other EQ I like out front is the Boss PQ-4

With the GE-10, is there anything I need to be aware of when looking to source one? A particular version, issue? Thanks

I use them - love 'em - transparent. Only drawback is the size.
I run one, and have 2 back-ups.. I could part with one

there is one built into my krank made for kerry king, definitely works good as a boost

I use one in front of the amp, makes all my amps sound better, usually use it to boost mids, frown shape curve ala EVH

Used one in the loop as a solo volume boost for years. Great pedal!
