Anyone care to chat Duende?

I'm intrigued by this amp. I know a majority of the players here are XTC and Uberschall fans, as well as Twinjet, etc... but this little bluesy classic rock amp has caused a LOT of GAS lately.

Does anyone on here own one? What do you like and dislike about it?

I have an incoming 20th Shiva for more modern hard rock tones, but I'm thinking this little Duende 15 watter might fit the bill nicely for a low wattage, classic sounding channel switcher.

+1

I really wish Bogner would update their site with their current amps!!!!

I've had an Ecstasy with OS 2 x 12 for about 3 years but I wanted something with lower wattage. I had an opportunity to try the Duende Seco Mojado and I was blown away. I custom ordered one thru Rob @ Tone Merchants in mid-December and I just took delivery on it about 2 weeks ago.

The amp is modded to have:

1. the higher gain mod
2. the pull gain on Channel B is footswitchable (so you have 4 channels: Channel A (clean), Channel B (dirty), Channel B (with pull gain engaged) and A/B combined
3. a master mid EQ knob

I am absolutely blown away by this amp. It has the very best clean AND the very best gain channel I've ever had on an amp. It sounds fantastic with my single coil Tele and humbucker PRS and the built in reverb and trem are awesome. After 2 weeks, I haven't connected a single effect as it sounds so great on it's own.

Anyway, I registered for this Forum just so I could reply to this post and sing the praises of this amp. Rob and Jorg at Bogner were great in ensuring this thing was exactly what I wanted.

I'm seriously considering selling the XTC and OS 2 x 12 as I like this Duende so much. Check one out if you have a chance.

Anyone have clips of the Duende that they've done? I've seen the TM vid and a couple of other YT postings but would like to hear audio clips from folks who own 'em. Especially ones with the gain mod.

Oh man, this footswitchable gain mod sounds incredible... I need that!

I've got a great lead on a 15 Watt Duende head, for a killer price. I may snag it, and send it in to Bogner and have that footswitchable gain mod done.

theres only a few guys out there with the gain mod. the Duende is such a killer amp with so many tones available especially if u get the gain mod. Also, the Seco Mojado head is really great if u already own a couple of cabs.

+1 for the seco mojado hi gain and mid mod duende.
Sounds great and excellent features. Very easy to dial in.
Down sides are it is heavy as hell and pricey.
That said I love mine. Looking for a little rolling baggage cart for it.
Has a killer modded fender deluxe vibe to it. Super fun to play.
I would also try to get bogner to mod the footswitch for you to include an extra switch for the boost. One less pedal and cable to haul around. Havn't checked to see if they will do that though.
Rob at tone merchants has excellent customer service as well. Highly reccomended.

Aloha, Rob.

One more tip for the Duende guys. If you get a chance try that new swart attenuator with it. You know that spot on tube amps where the volume is barely on and sounds kinda funny. Person sleeping in the next room volumes. This is just the ticket for it. The first step of attenuation is huge. Let's you crank the amp about halfway up and still be quiet. Cool compression switch for extra squish if you want that. Cool light show goes on with it as well. Size of a stompbox.
The best thing is the way the thing is eq'd. I think the amp sounds better through it. Kinda like the boom box you had as a kid with the bass boost or loudness switch for low volumes. The one you always left on cause it just sounded better that way.
Any way this little attenuator just seems to work perfect for this amp. IMHO of course.

Aloha, Rob.

Two words: Duende Incoming.

Just found a great deal on a used 15W Duende Head - basically $700 off the price of a new one. I couldn't resist! This is going to be a great companion to my 20th Shiva when it gets here.

Nice!

Just gotta figure out my cab situation. I've got tons of 112's that I can run it thru. Sealed, closed back.

I'm still deciding if I want to try to get a nice open back cab for it, as well.
