What were your findings?

Also, anyone have a script logo Distortion + they want to sell?

I didnt think you liked the Distortion +? i had an old MXR Stereo Chorus and Flanger.....didn't like the chorus, too subtle.

My experience with the Distortion + has never been great but I want to try "one of the good ones" or a dead accurate clone of a script logo one. I never really liked the DOD OD 250 until I got a couple of ones that were modded to gray era OD250 specs and then I really dug it. I figured the D+ might be the same way.

George do you like the D+ and if so, how do you use it?

It's all in the diodes used....the later ones are really like a buzz saw sound....the early ones are almost a fuzz, but not as uncontrollable and murky. The MXR doesnt have as much output as the 250's so you can't set them like an od with the level up and gain down. The gain has to be up, but when it's too high it gets kinda fizzy. Just back it down till it goes away.

The 250's added some stuff to boost the output. Other than that they are basically the same circuit.

as much as I hate to say it, cause I use and love lots of other MXR pedals, the MXR chorus never quite 'did it' for me, I got the Voodoo Labs Analog Chorus which IMHO blows the MXR out of the water!

Sorry that I couldn't help with your question though..but seriously, try the Voodoo :D

dude i have an original mid 70's MXR distortion script If u want. George is correct, its really almost the same circuit as the DOD, but the DOD has a boost/preamp which gives it a fatter/bigger sound and it does have more gain, but can get mushy if turned up all the way. I do think the DOD is a bit more transparent and not as compressed as the MXR +. As far as the MXR Stereo Chorus, i owned the original and it was stolen but honestly in my opinion it only sounded great when run in Stereo two fender clean amps. Eric Johnson used one way back in the 80's. I think Barzini owns a reissue so he can give the scoop on that. PM me and we can talk to details, also i still have the PQ-3 that u wanted too if u wanna check that out too.

I have the newer MXR stereo chorus pedal. Just it being in-line changes my tone too much to bare. I would only use it with a bypass loop.
The actual sound of the chorus is OK, but not very 3D sounding. IMO there are much better chorus pedals.

But of course, it could be your perfect chorus pedal if you like a not very 3D sounding chorus with tone suck when it's off.

how much you want for the script distortion+?
I mentioned this in another thread but the old distortion + without the LED work pretty well for a slight boost without thinning out the sound pretty well. Greazygeo mentioned the 250 as well but i havent tried one out. the distortion plus works well for adding to a crunch I thought and then a keeley ts9 for lead stuff... just my 2 cents

Try the Analogman, its the best I've heard. I've seen them sell for as low as 4150.
