wonder has anyone deal with guitar center before? how is the service like? and how competitive their prices is for a used gear? how well and close they describes on their used gear? any input please? am looking for a used head which priced well at my budget and probably be dealing with them ;)

I've dealt with them many times. There are some people there who are very knowledgeable and helpful, but they are the minority imo. Tony HIgbee runs the Platinum room here in Nashville. He's the go to guy for me. As far as used gear descriptions, it's pretty hit and miss. I've seen some that were very accurate, and others that couldn't even figure out what the item was. Good luck!

always check the Charvels... they OFTEN miss San Dimas models and you can practically steal a $1000+ guitar for a pittance.

You must know what gear you want before going there. They often have no idea what they are talking about.

It can work out well for you. Just depends. I had a guy show me a great PRS. Said it was awesome and discounted to $1799. It did play great. It did have a sale tag on it for $1799. So I took the test drive like they requested and said I will buy it.

It was a $4299 SC-58 marked by some very kind fool down to the sale price of some other PRS.

They knew it was the wrong price at the register. And they sold it to me for about 2500 under the correct price. The guy never mentioned it was incorrectly tagged.

Guitar Center has always been straight up on keeping their word. Used gear gets cheap after 90 days. The honor their return policy without question.

Guitar Center is great. Just do your research before going. Aside of Guitar Center and Rig Talk people deals, I have rarely bought elsewhere.

As an employee of Guitar Center, I will say this as nicely as I can....

Sometimes, it's an amazing deal and can be an absolute pleasure. Sometimes, a mistake was clearly made and the gear isn't what it should/could be.

Your best bet is to call the store and speak with a manager and request somebody knowledgeable on the particular piece gear you're interested in. Used gear has a no questions asked 30 day return policy so even if you end up with something less than stellar, you're able to return it for a full refund.

I recommend, if you have a store local to you, go and meet someone face to face and have them call on your behalf regarding the gear. That way you have a name to a face and someone to assist sifting through our over 255 stores worth of used gear.

I hope this helps!

I just bought my used explorer from GC and overall it was a good experience. Guy wouldnt budge on the price because the guitar just came in but after 90 days they will wheel and deal apparently.

Pretty much accurately described it to me over the phone and was pretty knowledgeable. I happened to speak to the manager from the get-go by chance because he's the one who answered the phone. Not sure if I would have had as pleasant of a purchase if it was a person less knowledgeable.

thanks guys i think the input suffice what mt decision is on getting the amp. ill will go for it.

There are some great deals to be found on that site used but you have to be informed and patient. Almost every time I look at something it is mislabeled , sometimes its to my benefit, sometimes not. It really is quite clear that may of the workers who list the gear don't know shit. The pictures suck also usually.

I've found some good deals there before, both new and used. I got a Mesa/Boogie Studio .22+ for $300 + tax a few years ago and they were going for $500+ all day long on Ebay.
