Anyone dig the JSX? Might snag a 2x12 combo after work.

Whats up guys,

I have set up a meet with a guy for a peavey JSX 2x12, and its a pretty decent deal

I have owned one these quite a few years ago, and i wasn't the biggest fan cause i couldn't quite get it tight enough for me, but i was also naive trying to play just straight into the amp like it was the only way to do it. Anyone have luck with an EQ and boost to make this thing sound nice and tight and good gain? I'm for the most past a 6 stringer in standard with passive pups. No grind, djent, hardcore. I'm an 80's classic metal.

Trigger pulled, Bought a MXR 10 band and threw it in the loop, and tossed one of the fish and chips in my pedal drawer. Sounds pretty good, maybe i need to go bust out surfing with the alien and play it front to back

Congrats!
I've owned several JSX heads. I always sell it when I'm in a pinch but I keep coming back to them.
I'm a firm believer that it is the best bang-for-your-buck amp on the used market right now.
Peavey really hit a home run with this amp, it's a shame it didn't catch on more.

PS, if you can't get a tight tone out of this amp, something is wrong. One of the tightest amps I've ever owned!

Ultimate Drive and F n C.....that was my combination for a few years into my Jubilee. Chased lots of other pedals away. Used the combo into single channel Marshalls as well, F n C into an SLO.....cheap but very effective pedals.

-PEAVEY is notorious for biasing there amps ice-cold from the factory,...check your bias,..i would put some 6L6's in it,..then put the EL34/6L6 selector switch in the EL34 position,... you'll probably end up maxxing the trim pots to even get ya in range,...

-I would also make a speaker change-(greenbacks)-

-PEAVEY has a lot of under valued high gainers-

Throw a Suhr Riot in front of it. Sounds great! That amp takes pedals well.

Never played a JSX, but really? I have a XXX, and while it's a good amp for what I payed for it, I'd definitely say a lot can be improved upon.
