Anyone else have a love hate relationship with Ibanez

I've got two JS1000 guitars and I dig the way the look, feel and play. I thing the trem on those bad boys is the best there is period. Having said that, there's just something about the tone that doesn't do it for me. I end up playing my LPs or my MMs.

Do you have the stock pups in them? If you do, try one with a set of SD Pearly Gates like Joe's favorite Chrome one had 'till it was stolen I believe. He Used it alot and on the San Fran Live DVD as well. That would be a great improvement I bet.

I love the necks and the body style. I'm sick of all the basswood and shitty pickup switches they use.
I am not too picky on bodywoods, but I really think they should have more varieties of woods. I also can't FUCKING STAND the location/style of the pickup switch. I love my RG565, as it is downright the most comfortable guitar ever for me, as most Ibanezes are with my girly small hands, but it's so fucking bad to the point where I am actually contemplating selling it and getting a Gutierrez with the same specs. I love using the neck-pup, but when I basically have to run a maze with my hand, switch, and get back to pick in time makes me want to punch someone in the FACE!

Try putting a larger end piece on the switch, I can do the pinky right hand bitch slap pretty well without hitting anything.

I really liked the SZ series, just three models, but a great guitar. Now it's been "upgraded" to the SRZ, which changed the scale length.

Also, Ibanez Artcore line up is surprisingly good. If you're into a semihollow/hollow body style for not a whole lot of $$$ they're a great option.

The shredders are exactly what you should expect, no surprises there. I mean, when you pickup up an RG what do you really expect? Frankly, in the same price range, I like Jackson stuff a little better. The DK2 I had was better than the comparably priced Ibby's I've owned.

I absolutely HATE Ibanez's necks. Way to thin. Give me a baseball bat any day. :D And I don't really dig the pointy body style either. But I do like the Ibanez Artcore semihollow/hollow line, so go figure...

I just love their necks especially the prestige series, every time I play one my hand feels super comfortable. I love the large radius for easy bends and the trems are just awesome.

But I can never end up buying one. I just dislike how they look, I hate the RG horns and the S series isnt much better looking. However the playability for me ranges far above most other brands I have played.

Anyone else like this?

I'm the same way. Just go build yourself a warmoth with the Wizard profile. I did that, and I cured my Ibanez GAS. It's a guitar similar to what EB is building for John Petrucci. Alder body, quilt top, birdseye maple neck, brazilian rosewood fingerboard, matching headstock....but with a Wizard profile neck.

I LOVE it :)

That's a great idea, any pics? Only problem is used I can score prestige ibanez for under £500 while my last musikraft ran me over £600 and has zero resale value.

I wish they would put more HH styles in the RG series and get over that HSH setup. And their finishes are piss fucking poor. They make the guitars look so cheap.
