I actually despised most 80's Hard rock/metal except for a few bands...

Same goes for me, for a lot of music from that era. I first got into music as a young lad, during the early 90's when the Seattle scene blew up. Was into all the big bands of that time, as well as some that weren't as well known. Then I got into more mainstream metal; Metallica, Pantera, etc....as well appreciating classic rock a lot more than I did at one time. I later started playing guitar when I was 17, when an older friend of mine got me into it and showed me a couple of things. One day, he gave me a copy of Joe Satriani's "Surfing With The Alien", and although I didn't get into it right away....it grew on me, to the point where I really started to appreciate the musicianship aspect of music....especially after going to see the first G3 tour back in '96. I later got his whole catalog, and later got into Vai, Eric Johnson as well as other instrumentalists. Then, one day I picked up a copy of Dream Theater's "Images & Words" and REALLY got into them, which opened the door to other Progressive rock and metal music...Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Pain Of Salvation, and the list goes on. Nowadays, I'm kind of getting into fusion players a bit...like Guthrie Govan - amazing player. Today, I can pretty much appreciate music from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's....and a little from 2000 on. But, I've never strayed from ROCK. I do not like country or rap, and most pop music makes me sick.

Yes. It lasts a couple of weeks and then it goes away.

Going from metal to metal isn't exactly a huge change in musical taste.

Going from RATT to Nevermore is a huge change

Dino recorded fear factory with a cameron marshall, but it was stolen later on when he was on tour.

Dino's Marshall that was stolen was modded by a guy named Metalhead.. That is what I remember reading... And the reason why he was never able to get a replacement because he couldnt locate the guy...

wonder why he would say the cameron he recorded fear factory with was the one that was stolen then? you're right - i do stand corrected because other people are saying the same thing from what i am finding - but i cannot find the interview where dino said the cameron was the one that was recorded/stolen along with his 7 string guitars.

im doing some googling right now to find the interview i remember reading. slim chance in hell but im searching

no proof though on the stolen part. still looking.

There is no mention of him using a Jose there is only other people claiming that he did and the dude that emailed him never posted an actual response from him with the real answer...

A 2 minute Internet search using Metalhead amp Mod's...

And quoted directly from Cameron making no claims of Dino using anything that he modded but him using a Metalhead modded Marshall..
And that has to really be him because I see familiar names in that thread that post here to, talking to him...

I do know the mod. Mike Tampesta came by and tried the amp I made. He said it sounded just like it did when he played through Dino's #1 Marshall. Its a lota work. But you can look for a modded Marshall by Elan aka MetalHead aka Excalibur Amps. The band Saga also used them too. I'v heard he moved out of the country. I'v seen some of Dino's amps on EBay not THE one but some of the back ups his tech was selling. I can do one for you but it will have to be next year there is to much going on right now.

And that was in response to this question from some one else..

Also Mark,

In the past there was talk about a mod you were doing that had the Dino Cazares from Fear Factory tone going on from the 1st 2 albums. This is one of my all time favorite Metal tones and was wodering if this was actually something you have done or are going to do.

that definately explains where i heard cameron from in the works of all of this. metalhead did the modifications, it was one that metalhead modified that was stolen, but that might have been where/how cameron got thrown in the mix.

it has been a very long time since i read that interview. easily possible i got turned around, its sad i no longer can find the interview. regardless it does not matter much - the gear was stolen and is out there somewhere.

thanks for the links OJ

HAHA this amp is like the legend of bigfoot!!! I don't think Mark ever made that mod other than a prototype. I asked him about it back in the day when he was working on my amp. I remember him saying he could get an amp to sound like that, but it would be a one trick pony pretty much so not very versatile. Not that it would be a bad trick though!!

I've always been into all styles of music (minus rap). I go through phases of what I am most into at a given time but, it's a never ending cycle and I love it.

Probably have a better chance seeing Bigfoot than actually getting one too..

My music tastes are pretty wide ranging. I love rock and metal, but after a while I need to back off a bit so I pull out things like Jimmy Webb, The Highwaymen, The Seatbelts, Big Star, that sort of stuff.

im all over the place. rap, dubstep, classic rock, classical baroque period, 90's music, hair metal, any "core" genres, 50's - 70's, prog metal, etc.

Although I loved the 80s stuff in the 80s I can't stand it now. I mean like...I'd rather eat my own ass than listen to that again.

I keep switching between soft prog, heavy prog, nu prog, and fusion. I'm on a big Karnivool and Planet X kick right now.

I have listened to Hard Rock/Metal since 1977. Never strayed but it has evolved. I started with Kiss/Queen/Alice Cooper/Ted Nugent/Black Sabbath music and that has evolved to include Dream Theater, Dragonland, Firewind, Dragonforce, etc.

What I do now appreciate is any music well written, crafted, and played. Willie Nelson can shred, Brad Paisley rocks. There is a lot of good playing in different genres that I used to ignore.

Mike

I just find my self lightening up in my tastes are time goes by, maybe I am pulling a Metallica. :) Its not like I was ever into really heavy music though, Pantera was about as heavy as I ever got. Alot of the newer metal I hear has the cookie monster vocals, which just turns me off. I have always liked a wide range of music though and never really fit the stereotypes of a punk, emo, or metalhead.

It's funny you should mention this. I'm a modern metal guy and 80's glam metal usually annoys the hell out of me. I've been rocking out to Arch Enemy, Nevermore, Opeth etc etc. and lately I've been getting away from that a little. I'm currently (as in right now) uploading all my old VH albums   Not sure how long it's going to last, I still really don't like the presence heavy Plexi tone of his. I can ALWAYS go for Hendrix/Cream/Zeppelin though!

Flameshield up!

i still dont get Opeth, but loved that home vid i watched.

i dont understand the angle that band is coming at me with. its confusing...like a nightmarish mix of tool/dimmu borgir/nickelback.

Im into 70s 80s rock, I had a country rock band wanting me to join back in 2000, That was quit a switch for me. I got another, local band wanting to audition next month, i little more music that i like,
