Anyone Else Here Think the REVV Generator MKIII Is Kinda....blah...?

I don't want this to be a shit on the company REVV thread since I like their other products but I gave the Generator another shot and its just so bland sounding to me. I was forcing myself to bond with the amp and I just can't find any reason to fall in love with it. It has some nice thumping lows. Highs never get harsh. However voicing wise, it has no stand out characteristics other than its super clean and sterile and gives you a very neutral studio ready sound to record with. It does track well I must say but no inherent trademark bark/growl/sound/whatever to get excited about.

Am I wrong on this amp? Any tips someone can give me to make it come alive? I've tried it through numerous cabs loaded with various Celestions but have not tried it with any cabs loaded with WGS speakers, which is what their cabs are loaded with.

I think you're opinion of it matches my experience and the general consensus of others on here of it. There's been a bunch of thread of guys complaining that it's bland. I also remember it being a bit artificial sounding for my taste

Seems like all the reviews of this amp I have seen have been extreme love or extreme hate.

Hmmmm, i own the Gen MK2 and can't understand all the negatives about it. I love mine, a lot. Only channel i kinda don't bind with is the crunch, but with a boost it kills. The clean is not the best but does the job quite good with a chorus and some delay.

The purple and red channels are fucking awesome. It is a modern amp, not an 800 or a recto or a plexi. It a Revv Generator. And it is sick.

I know one guy that has one and thinks it's the best amp ever, but I've never played it (never even seen one in person before)

That said, the majority of the reviews I've seen echo the bland/generic sentiment

I think guys that dig the earlier darker Friedman amps would probably dig the Revv stuff most.

Revv makes incredibly feature-rich amps that look great on paper, but have the most bland, although not awful tone.

Owned a mkII and couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Bland sound and horrible customer service.

No actually, I liked the amp a lot.

I had a 120MKIII that I was able to borrow last summer and used it for rehearsals and some recording and it was great!
Almost everything in the box and you don't need to bring a cab with you if you run to FOH. It looked very nicely built. I like the clean, purple channel and the red. The green channel was not my favorite on it. The amp is full of great features.
