when my band split up a few months ago my drummer mentioned he had an empty 2x15" peavey cabinet so i ended up trading him a cd player for it

i've had this thing long enough now and i'd like to make good use of it. i'm looking to get 2 15" speakers for it, but it looks like the only brands available for guitar are really of the Eminence family. they have a few different choices but i've never used Eminence speakers, are they any good?

I mostly play metal/heavy music and i noticed Vader Cabinets, http://vadercabinets.com , makes a nice 2x15 cabinet that uses Eminence speakers, but they won't say which one it is, only that it's "custom" made for them.

any input would rule because i'd like to use this cab with my guitar rig. thanks!!

Why only Eminence?

I would go ElectroVoice or Weber.

I'm thinking about ordering a Custom Lopo to match my custom 3x12

i just remember searching around and only finding stuff about Eminence speakers.
i'm really open to anything as long as it will be alright for playing heavy stuff.

I don't really have any experience with Weber or Ev speakers for guitar, are they any good?

Yes.

ElectroVoice EVM15L would be like pure murder in a box. KILLER!

Weber Michigan 15 ceramic would also be badass for heavier music.

nice. well, i'll definitely have to check into those two and see if i can find some clips.

I think 15" speakers sound great for guitar.
I had an Eminence Legend 15" speaker in a Delta Blues combo. It had the best qualities of a V30: deep full bass that was quite tight, great mids and smooth highs...without the sharper high mids of a V30.
15" speakers roll off the highs a bit early compared to a 12" so if you want to tame that high-end sizzle and smooth out your tone they are great for that, and they don't sound too dark.

I used to have a peavey 4x15 cab. it was a P.A. cab actually but it was voiced for full range not just sub. i paid $125 for it and it was mint. i used it for a guitar and bas cab. crystal clear. amazing sounding cabinet. i wish i still had it. little on the heavy side and a bit cumbersome though. 15's are great for guitar if you get the right cab/speaker combo.

The EV 15in speakers are stought enough you could use the cab for bass or guitar.....

I use a Splawn Quickrod into a Marshall 4x12 together with a Crate powerblock into a pa cab with a 15 in speaker and it sounds huge! I set up the Splawn and then gradually add the powerblock to really thicken the bottom end..
