Looking for some help with delay settings. trying to go after that old 80's Lynch delay tone.
are you hip to the envelope modifier for ducking delay? start with tap tempo in the beat of the song, one delay line (stereo if applicable), short feedback (2-4 repeats), and set the envelop modifier (input level) in the matrix to control the mix level of the delay,
60% = low
40% = mid
25% = high
and adjust glide time to control how quickly the delay "rises" as the dry input level decays
sounds like he has a pretty high level of straight digital delay (not hearing any high freq roll off on the repeats or modulation)
but it stays out of the way of his faster playing and rises in level when he stops.
this first live example sounds like a typical ducking digital delay tone (especially at 1:48) with some constant reverb.
the last note of the in my dreams solo (2:38) is followed by a single delay repeat that sounds ever so slightly lower in volume than the original note and pretty unaltered; ie digital clean. the whole solo sounds pretty reverbed for making that high gain marshall smoother and give that faraway crying tone lvibe ynch became famous for.
