HA!

I bought an ART SGE Mach II when they came out. I think it was $15,000, or so it seemed like it at the time for a poor college student. But oh...the digital distortion! I hooked that bitch up in front of my JCM800 2X12 combo...I don't know, at the time I guess I thought it was great, sort of like the mullet I was sporting. Ugh.

The SGX 2000 was the next generation ART mega machine if I recall correctly.

Wow! I had one of those. Bought the Sge Mach II and a ...um....friend ...borrowed it and pawned it the same week for heroin. I let him work for me a few years later and took what it was worth out of his pay and bought the 2000

There is an upgrade chip for that unit. Easy to swap out and adds a bunch more stuff.

Actually, those tones remind me of everything that was wrong with the rack craze in the late 80's/early 90's.

I had a friend that used to use one of these and his tone was, quite frankly, one of the most pathetic things I have ever heard in a live mix.

YMMV.

hahah

good stories

can you tell me more?

I also had the Mach II (circa '92). If I remember right I really dug the chorus. Definitely didn't use the distortions. I used the Peavey Bandit's Superstat for that

Back when these came out, there weren't a lot of players that were willing to invest hours "programming" their amp. Obviously, that has changed over the years, with the advent of the AxeFX and other digital units. Regardless, most of the people using these units were running the stock presets which, 90% of the time, were absolutely drenched in effects. This didn't make for a punchy live mix.

It would be interesting though to see how nice of a dry tone you could dial in. I have just never heard one come out of this unit!

^^ fair enough!!

i hate having to play round with that shit even today.... glad im only looking for delay/verb at once

I had a Peavey Bandit 65, first amp, got it from Bills Music house in Catonsville

I had one. Used it as a backup for a short time. The effects are ok. I would avoid using the distortion though.

Sweet !!

might try and pick one up.

Anything else to look at in the same vein?

want that dripping 80's delay/reverb/chorus effect
