I added an extra pre amp tube on my metro plexi and it sounds great. I wanted to know if anyone had a schematic to wire a jose master or a switch to engage diode clipping. I would appreciate any help. Thanks

For some reason the one I have from teh metro forum the pic comes up really small on my computer. I'm looking for a direct link. I am interested in wiring it with a switch and looking for a schematic with the switch.

i don't have a scheme, but i can describe it for you....
two zener diodes in series with the anodes connected, one goes to the 1 lug of the MV, the other goes to a lug on a switch, let's say the middle one. then you connect one of the other lugs on the switch to ground, the one on the MV should be handy.
you can play around with zener values to see how hard you want the signal to clip, and at what preamp gain levels. the way i do it, you can roll back the volume on the guitar for a cleanish tone, bring it up for some crunchy stuff that's just below the clipping limit, then full up for the most clipping. the values you need will depend on the signal level you have prior to the MV.

Everyone concerns themselves with the diodes, but the fact is that the placement of the master is just as important. Look at my attached schematic. The "Zen Master" is the Jose...
Here it is wired up on a push/pull switching A1M pot. The only mistake in this picture is in the non pulled position I was shorting the input to ground. Simply don't solder in that bottom wire on the DPDT switch and you're there. Pull the switch and bring in the Zeners:

hi, this is my first post here and i came across this thread and i want to be sure about how to wire this jose master/diode mod into my modded metro 1959-1959 boost stage/ 2203-2203 boost.
am i correct that the diodes are wired anode to anode and the cathodes to lug 1 and to lug 3/ground of stock master volume pot for a 2203, and can use it on a spst switch? what zener diodes should i use?
my amp is more of a plexi--2203 hybrid with stacked gain stages, it is not a very high gain or very brite amp.......just looking for another mod with some more spice........
