I'm generally not a big fan of PRS stuff, but for some reason I have bad GAS for a Custom 22 Stoptail model. Just wanted to see if any of you guys might have one? If so, please post pics and your thoughts on it. Only bad thing I've heard is that the bridge is different for intonation and using heavier gauge strings/low tunings might be an issue? Also, what's a decent price to pay for a used one of these guitars?

I have a standard 22 - basically all mahogany - no maple top. I think I have 12 to 56 tuned to C. Doesn't need the adjustable bridge.

Good to hear. I'd definitely want one with a fancy maple top though. :D

Good workhorse guitar. The bridge will be fine for tuning, at least it always has for me. No way to post pics for me at the moment but I have everything from Artist packages to some jaw dropping private stocks. You may also like the McCarty model as well.

+1 on the McCartys, I gave up all my other PRS stuff to get more of 'em. They just have a thicker tone IMO

The stock bridge will get you pretty close intonation-wise with heavy strings. If you play with a light touch with your fretting and don't hammer fist it with picking hand, you can probably get by with 11's, going up to upper 50's on the wound strings. I play a little harder live and typically use 12-60 in D and drop C. I opted to get the adj. stoptails for mine cause I felt it helped the intonation quite a bit for how I play. I think if your plan on tuning down significantly, you'd wanna make the change. You could certainly buy one with the normal stoptail to see how you like the guitar in general and if you find it an issue, change the bridge later. Tone pros adj. stoptail are probably the most reasonably priced one that's a really solid bridge. As quick as you flip guitars though, you probably won't get to the point of getting the adj. stoptail

As everyone knows, Vaughn and I are huge fanboys of PRS :D . I have my PRS in drop B with the stock stoptail, and I don't have any intonation issues.

And that Whale Blue of his is FUCKING SWEET. Of course so is his light-ass McCarty, and Singlecut Std.

Very easy to switch out to 3 way toggle/push pull tone knob. Although, you need to flip a pickup magnet to get the phase normal. I don't mind the way it sounds without flipping the magnet though.

Yeah, but with the McCartys I dont have to fool with it ;)
