I wanted to get your thoughts on the Steinberger GM2T or GM4T, older model from the Newberg Factory.

I'm considering hunting one down, but wanted to hear some experiences.

I have 3 gm's, gm1 ,and 2 gm5's, got rid of the transtrems long ago , pain in the ass, replaced those with JCustom fixed bridges , they stay in tune, and put Moses necks on them , in my opinion another upgrade , anyway they're super stable guitars, ....

Never had a Steinberger, but you may want to check out Brian Moore's MC/1 model.

I bought a GR4 last year and it is my #1 guitar now, no contest. It is much heavier than I thought it would be. It has the passive Seymour Duncan pick-ups which rule over active EMG's for my type of music which includes using the tremolo extensively. I've broken only 2 strings in about 6 months whereas I would break at least 1 string a week with my Floyd Rose equipped guitars. I saw a black GR4 Newburgh go for $720.00 on eBay about a month after I bought mine for $1200.00. I've never played any other Steinberger to compare my GR4 to, so all I can tell you is I'm looking for a back-up and will probably sell off a bunch of guitars I'll never use again.
