I like the Axe...always have...very interested in the opinions from r-t.

I think it's a great piece of gear too, just the hype around it gets rediculous. Would like to get another one someday....

Yep...agreed ...seems to be a very polarizing topic

Everytime a new version is released you will hear how incredible it is and he much better it is. It's been this way ever since I first started using it many years ago. Though it has gradually made improvements. I am looking forward to hearing clips. So far I have only heard two clips with 6.0 that I thought sounded good . But it's just released so well see if they improved it. Without a doubt this latest release has been hyped up more then any before and from my view point cliff HAD to step it up so as to not lose too many customers to Kemper.

Axe is great specially for efx. Some ofthe modeling is great. Some I don't like

I just played through the first two tone match sims available for V6. Aic and VH, very impressed

Yeah man! I'd love to hear some

I checked it out for a bit today. Some of the stuff on there seemed pretty cool. Real drastic tonal differences between the amps now(Tone matched). Again though, a few of the high gain amps sound better and a couple sound worse. So I took the Diezel one and tweaked it a bit, changed the cabs, adjusted the motor and dynamics. Took all of 2 minutes and the fucker rips....again   . I had it sounding pretty decent before though too. Glancing over the patches the volumes on the patches are all over the place, gonna have to spend some time and straighten that out.I wish Fractal would handle that. To me, the Friedman stuff is now sounding a bit better, the Cameron patch sounded pretty punchy. I think over all, it's a bit of an improvement. Haven't yet tried it with power amp/cabinets, just over monitors and headphones.

Do you have an Axe II, man? I'm still stunned by the Ultra personally... Can't see a reason to sell it to get the II for late night recording as I use my amps for everything else...

The thing that has me most curious is that the models are now supposed to actually mirror the physical amp...I never thought that was a strength of the Axe in the past.... I viewed it as more of a cool starting point to get your own thing going....very interested to see some more opinions on how closely the Axe mirrors the real deal in V6.0

Put it this way, I can tell you the Cornford patch does not sound like mine and I have yet to hear my Bruno in any of the clean stuff either. But that's what the new features are supposed to do handle now, if you want. It seems you have now, a bunch of starting points, that are pretty good and you can tweak like crazy still, if you want. But with the new feature, maybe you could duplicate some sounds too. I'm not sure I'm feeling that energized to do that yet though. I'm thinking I may just lay back a bit and see what some other guys come up with. I think all these updates have wore me out a bit.

Fuck me I haven't been following any of the updates...

I'll dump this onto my II and see how she flies. I'll just have to back my current patches up as I've hit da money on some of my homemade presets

Ver.6, eh? Hmmm... Guess here we go!!!!

Watch it though brother, something about pre 5.07 patches corrupting the unit.

Nah...I finally sold my standard a couple of months ago (after three years or more), and was really curious as to what the latest and greatest has to offer...tried the II when it came out, and didn't see a need to upgrade, but I'm curious if the latest upgrade is a meaningful step up.

So 6.0 doesn't mirror your Cornford well, or older firmware versions?

No, but I'd be kind of disappointed if it did. Getting sounds that my amps can't do is really what i'm looking for in this thing. I'd just like them to be on the same level quality wise and all.
