While i don't like the style of music she chooses to play, she played a song on piano on Stern's show live and it was pretty damm good. No Autotune or studio trickery either which is why you'll never hear Brintney Spears or Rebecca Black sing live. Gaga has seperated herself, to me at least, from those other garbage pop no talents. I won't be out buying her CD's but I respect the heck out of her now and having Stern interview helped because he's soo good at it.

She also said somewhere that she's a fan of metal and she saw Iron Maiden live. Hopefully she hire's a rockin band for her tours.

Nice! (On the Maiden thing.)

My band plays a metal version of "Poker Face". We should call it "In Yer Face!"

Yeah, I heard it. She sounded great singing and she also was pretty open and interesting. Like you, I'm not a fan of her music, but you can't deny that she's talented...

Steve

Here she is with Nicko McBrain. I will check her out on Stern, thanks for the tip.

Yep, she has skills.

Same here, don't like her music but she sounded amazing singing live with the piano. Great interview too!

She's very talented. I agree that she is separate from the rest of the crowd. I think she's one of the most musically talented people in the business today .

kinda liked her before the interview. liked her more after the first run of the show. by the third replay, all i really liked was the two songs, which were insanely great and highlight why she is a true artist, and as popular as she is.

no matter what question or statement howard asked, she always said "not really, it's more of a...." or "no, i see it as....". she was always correcting howard's statements. on several occasions howard was getting to the "meat" of basic psychology (when she was talking about her father and success) and she was always contradicting anything he said.

when she told the story of her father always playing rock albums in the house when she was growing up (floyd, acdc, zeppelin, etc) and then writing the song "edge of glory" with him as his father (her grandad) was dying, i was riveted. then she sung the song by herself accompanying on the piano. probably one of the most beautiful musical moments on howard's show since coming to sirius. the only other song i can think of that comes close was dave grohl doing "my hero" acoustic.

i know she is young, and want's to be in charge. that's why she is so contradictory whenever howard said something. it's a way of being in control. but it made her sound kinda silly sometimes. but she is young and has a lot of room to grow. but having this much success so young, and trying to act like she is "all about the truth", she is going to wind up looking kinda foolish farther down the line. obviously, this is all just my opinion. howard was very happy with the interview, and i am not stupid enough to call the show and voice my opinion....so i will rant here like the internet idiot i am.

but the songs she did definitely showed she is not just some talentless gimmick. and busting out her phone to play her demo-ing stuff? awesome!!! i do the same thing.

You guys need to check out her HBO special from MSG. I'm not a pop guy but she brings it pretty hard live and her band is fucking awesome. Also she does a cappella performance during the credits and yeah, she can really sing.

We can't be friends anymore. :D

I have a whole new respect for her, she sounded amazing especially when you consider it was 8 am,

Her recordings are cool I wonder why people dismiss it -----

I'm embarassed to admit it, but I kind of like her music. I mean from a pop structure perspective, she has a formula but it works for her. Compared to most, she has a higher rate of "hits" that I will actually listen to and turn up if on the way to work and the radio is playing the same old $hit like Nickleback. There are prob 5 or 6 songs of hers that I like. She also has a great ass. I'd never buy an album but I def. dig her skillz. One thing i found when trying to watch her live Monsters ball thing (hey it was date night) was that after about 3 songs I have had enough and that the music in a band context really doesn't hold up well live. Too much bullshit dancing and props. Anyway this probably isn't saying much seeing as I grew up listening to ABBA because of my parents and I used to spin that along side my CARCASS album when spinning around town. Chicks love it... dudes, not soo much. Ya gotta stay versatile if you want to get the ladies!

its pretty sad when its gotten to the point we applaud people for not using autotune

autotune is brutal.. blame Cher, she started that shit with that song of hers it seems. "life afte rlove" or whatever it was called.
