Im thinking my tremoverb could use a nice overhaul! Anyone ever had their mesa modded? what did you do? were you happy with it? who did you use, etc.... love to hear all the info on it.

I love the Tverb I just much prefer my 20th anni shiva and so the tverb gathers dust. I dont want to sell it so maybe I can have the clean channel tweaked and the modern gain channel get more of a mid spike lead like the XTC red? am i crazy

I had my mesa mark IVA modded with a bias pot. The tech that works across from Elderly instruments did the work. He was quick and did a nice job.

In general I am not a big fan of modded amps. When not just sell the T-Verb and get an amp that does what you want to back up the Shiva?

Its the chasis from a 93 (very early run) tremoverb. My friend put it in a wood head shell and ppl always freak out about it so I never can get the amount I'd want from it. Plus its kinda sentimental. Was hoping I'd find a way to twist it a bit more to fit my needs. I dont mind spending a bit for mods.

So how did your amp turn out? much difference in tone?

Check out the stuff Jerry at FJA does. I know he does a lot of mesa mods.

The bias mod on my mark IV did warm things up a bit, but the change was slight. Not sure I would do it again.

A good friend of mine, who's now a real professional guitarist (with Kenny Loggins) FWIW, used to have a T-Verb, and had Mesa voice both channels to vintage, so he had two orange channels. When I had my T-Verb years ago, I also talked with mesa about doing some tweaks to it. If it were me, I'd probably trust mesa the most with doing tone tweaks to their amps.

I know Freidman does Mesa mods and I've heard they are good, worth giving him a shout too.

The only mod I've ever had done to my MarkIV was to convert it to 240 volts.

Sometimes I have considered getting the Rhythm 2 channel modded, but then running a fuzz pedal into R2 makes it useful, so I don't bother with the idea now. Plus mods around here are expensive. I recently spent way too much getting my guitar modded, so am a bit cash-strapped for a while.
