Anyone here have experience with the Laney VH100R?

I have one and find it to be very versatile for my needs; however, in fairness mine is also modded by Voodoo Amps. In any event, the clean channel sounds really good (and includes a bright switch) and the crunch channel definitely goes from classic JTM45 type tones to modded Marshall tones. Each channel has an independent extra drive stage that can be switched in an out with the foot pedal. It's like having a separate overdrive for each channel built into the amp. For this reason it's almost like having four channels in a two channel amp. The amp has several different effects loops options which offer a great deal of flexibility (including independent effects routing on each channel) as well as a power amp input and preamp output. I also find that my particular amp takes pedals up front very well which is a nice bonus. I play mostly classic and hard rock/80's metal and find the amp performs very well in this area. For the price that one can be had there is a ton of versatility available. Great bang for the buck. Not too mention built like a tank. I also have a 1976 Marshall JMP that was modded by Voodoo Amps which I consider to be my personal Holy Grail amp and I can honestly say the the Laney holds its own very well in comparison. Oh, and BTW......the Laney is STUPID loud! The only negative is that there is no master volume control; however, the effects loop return control can be used as a defacto master volume when the effects loop is set to Insert. Hope this helps.

Setting the loop to INSERT makes it a series loop, right?

I believe that is correct. The other effects loop mode is called "Side Chain" which I believe functions like a parallel loop. Is misspoke before as well...............there is a POWER AMP out and PREAMP in not the other way as I mistakenly typed.
