I have a gh100l, that i used as a backup for my jcm800 years ago; collecting dust in my office. wondering if it was worth turning into a straight broots machine.? It can get prettyclose with a boost and the extra gain switch on, but its too loose, and flubby in the lows..would be cool to have a single channel, plug and play, death metal amp. .
Thanks for any info.

Plenty you can do with a GH100l. 6 gain stages to play with

I have a gh100s, I understand what you mean about the gain, ive thought about sending it to someone to tighten it up but i already have amps that do the tight metal thing and for slower downtuned sabbathy stuff its awesome. id say try boosting it with a metalzone, its likes that thing alot, the sd1 is cool with it too but maybe not tight enough still for death metal. heres a clip i made the other day with mine boosting with a sd1

Thats sounds killer. Same i have a boosted recto and a jsx, that are both great for deathmetal; but the laney is just collecting dust. I may just off it locally and buy another xxx or jsx lol.

That's interesting. I've owned several of the GH's, and boosted with the right pedals, they were never loose/flabby.

To be fair, mines been sitting for a couple years, and was put up wet lol. Might just need some tlc and some tubes.
