I like it. Are you thinking of possibly selling the Emerald BFR for this? You are a shredder and the JPXI has the perfect neck for that.

Can't give up my green BFR. I love it way to much. However It's been soooo long since I've treated myself to something nice. I always talk myself out of it. Between this and the Diezel Hagen... I gotta work some OT just for me and get something nice before the summer is over.

Just played one the other day. Very nice. Super thin neck and flat. You would really have to be into thin necks. Immaculate fretwork and rolled edges. Very comfy. Guitar sounded great. Back of the neck is painted unlike most Ernie balls with the oiled maple. I think the neck was also mahogany. Really nice fit and finish. I liked the trem especially. It was floating but you could go drop d and the other strings remained in tune.

I already have a JP6 BFR but this has a flatter fretboard, bigger SS frets and an ebony board. I love my guitar and I think I would love this one to.

If you like the original or ibanez and the like, you would definetly dig this. Those not used to the thin and flat I would recommend trying it first.
Really nice guitar. Top shelf quality for sure.

Yep EBMM makes some very high quality instruments for sure. I've never seen a poorly made guitar from them... ever!

I've played both a JPXI 6 and JPXI 7. I've gotta say I loved the 7 more than the 6. The Ebony board with the SS frets and 20" radius is just insane! The things play effortlessly. The only thing that I don't like about them is that the middle position on the magnetic pickups is both humbuckers in full and when the tone knob is pulled out in the middle position, its that scooped sound that the normal JP's have. I'd be re-wiring that in a second. Haha.

I would try one first to make sure you like it. Also, make sure you check it out for flaws and whatnot. I'm not bashing EB but I've owned 5 brand new BFR's all of which were defective out of the box. I've also seen some people with new JPXI's that have had a few minor issues. Just a heads up.

WOW!! Defective how? I've played a few EBMMs and thought they were all nice. Thanks for heads up.

Yeah I have had some problems with my axis. They do have great customer service and warranty dept.

A few people on ss.org posted about their defective EBMM guitars. They seem to be mostly minor cosmetic things.

No problem. They make killer guitars when they get it right. These are the ones I had with defects:

BFR JP6 Dargie Delight II - the neck was mis-aligned badly. 5 other EB forumites ordered BFR JP6 DDII's and had this same issue with theirs as well.

BFR JP7 Dargie Delight II - I was told by CS that my guitar was delayed because of a neck "issue". The guitar was delayed by 2 months because of that.

BFR JPX - The first one I had had a twisted neck. One side of the neck was straight, the other side was extremely underbowed. Also, the springs inside the trem cavity rubbed up against the cavity and the bridge would stick while doing a dive bomb. The guitar didn't stay in tune at all. My 2nd one was a replacement for the first one. The replacement was supposedly trashed by UPS, but the dealer never sent me photos of that to prove it.

BFR Koa JP6 - The guitar was delayed by a month and a half because the body was dropped on the way to the paint booth. After a month of owning the guitar, the gold hardware started rubbing off on the bridge. This was a guitar that was played for maybe 2 hours a day and thats it.

Mystic Dream JP6 with BFR RW Neck - There were white dots underneath the clearcoat on the headstock.

This list also doesn't include the first Mystic Dream that I had that had a non-working piezo right out of the box.

With all of the guitars I listed, I ended up having to pay to ship them back each time. I finally got fed up and voiced my opinion on the EB forum and was called out by Sterling on his forum, and he also posted my private correspondence with my dealer. After that I was banned and now when I try to log on, I get a message that pops up that tells me that my reason for being banned was because I'm a 'two-faced bitch'. Very professional.

Yup, some of them are minor, but when people have to pay to insure their guitar and ship it back because of what is most likely a manufacturing defect, I'm sure it aggravates people. I know a few of the guys on SS.org weren't happy. When I owned my Suhr, I had what I thought was an issue with mine, which it wasn't and Suhr sent me a UPS call tag and was ready to pay for shipping the guitar to and from them no questions asked.

Pretty crazy that most of those were Ball Family Reserve guitars too.

Yup, guitars that supposedly get some of the best QC out there. From what I've heard/seen with friends EB's, they can slip up a lot on the QC. Like I said though, when they get it right, the guitars are amazing. I love the options/sounds that the JP BFR's have, I just don't want ones with QC issues. Haha.

That's cool. That Emerald BFR is so you. I say treat yourself. I love the JP6s. Killer guitars and the JPXI looks awesome.

I will vouch for mystidream (Phil). He is a bud of mine and knows his EBMM JPs. Just play befor eyou buy. If you don't notice any issues, take it down.
