Been wanting to refret my Fender Deluxe Strat for awhile, had this for about 10-11 years now and I feel like a refret would make it great again. Want to throw some SS Jumbos on it  Can someone recommend a good place to get this done in So Cal? I'm in Orange County.

I had Jerry @ Luxxtone put in new frets, nut and WCR P90 pickups into my 61 SG/LP Special. Plays like a dream. You can hear it (and see Pete Thorn play it) in the demo video in my sig.

Either Jerry, or Tina Wood at The Amp Shop in Sherman Oaks.

I had Eric at Eric's Guitars in Van Nuys refret a guitar of mine recently and he did a killer job.

I'd say Jerry all the way, stay away from the guitar dr. david pitillo, I've had nothing but terrible experiences working with that guy, he has lost my guitars before, done work I on guitars I didn't ask him to do, charged me for work he forgot to do, setup my guitars in the wrong tuning, etc, that cat is bad news. I would say Jerry, although not in OC area, WELL worth the extra trek, if you need someone right in the OC area I would say Joel Grant of Grant's guitars off euclid inside Sound Matrix rehearsal studios (2nd floor), that guy does amazing work as well, & while not being as pricey or taking as long as Doc...it still does cost a little.

For Ss go with Tuttle bestfrets.com. Amazing work.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone

A lot of people have been recommending Jerry and Tuttle, I'll have to give each a call and see.

I had Dave do a basic setup on this guitar before, he took forever to do a basic setup. It came out great but he did all this additional work I did not ask for and charged me for.. Only good thing is he is just down a few exits from me since my work is in Costa Mesa.

Wow... Sorry to hear that. Dave always took great care of me and mentoneman. I took him 4 guitars once, for full setups-- one was a full refret on a Les Paul Standard and I had them all back in 2 days. They came back feeling better than EVER.

Needless to say, it's been several years since i had him do work for me-- as I'm back in Hawaii now. He did recently setup a friends guitars (2 or 4 I forget, but it was right before NAMM 2012), and my friend got his guitars back, playing stellar and in just a couple of days. Anyway, best of luck to you. I'm sure w/ the recommendations given by such respected members here, the other two you're considering will do you right.

Cool maybe I'll name drop you guys and hope to expect a better turn around time   His work was great, I just didn't expect it to take forever to do it the last time I dropped it off. I guess things do come up and it could've been a one time thing. I'll shop around and see, might end up taking it here again for convenience if he can turn it around quick. Thanks for the assurance though :)

Tim Kubit (pronounced CUBE-it), was my other friend, also a friend of Pat Watson (mentoneman), and myself Zach Petersen. If you let him know you're on a time table, and tell him we said he might be able to get you done in that time and that you're a repeat customer, perhaps he'll commit and follow through w/ a quick turn around for you.

Either way, best wishes
