I am working on a keyboard combo amp and according to the maker it has prefused stranded 18AWG wire. I mistook this for solid wire. The issue I am having that when I shake the wire harness it reproduces the crackling sound in the amp, which only occurs intermittently. I am working on replacing the harness with standard 18AWG stranded wire.

Is anyone familiar with this prefused stranded wire? I did a google search and understand what it is, what the wires are fused together, but I don't really understand its benefits or why they just wouldn't use standard stranded wire.

Weird. If the wire in question isn't flexed a lot inside the amp, I don't see why you couldn't use normal stranded wire.

The issue seems to have been fixed with the normal stranded wire. Still not sure why they used the prefused wire.
