Anyone know how Lace X-bars compare to Bare Knuckles??

Just wondered if anyone had tried both?
I always use Bare Knuckles these days and I always find that they have a 'wider' sound than anything else. By that I mean that it's as if they're covering more frequencies, there's much more depth to the overall tone, and the dynamics are clearer. Especially cranked up loud at a gig (the difference between them and cheaper pickup makes is less apparent at bedroom volumes, in my experience). I've had lots of Bare Knuckles and while I like some more than others, I always find that this depth and intensity to the tone is there.
But for some reason I have a desire to try some Lace X-bars!! So I wondered if people who had tried them can compare them to BKPs?? In the Lace vid that they did at Namm they talk about them being like hi-def pickups, which makes me think that they also have this wide frequency range feel going on, like I hear from BKPs.
Anyway, any experiences appreciated! :)

You're looking at two very different pickups. For a metal player (and no, bareknuckles are not just for bands that wish to sound like periphery) - bareknuckles are extremely clear pickups, the fact that huge chords with high distortion sound crystal clear is what makes them so special. Out of all BKPs, the BlackHawk set are the ones you should try out, those are amazing pickups.

Thanks for the input but I know loads about BKPs, its the Lace X-bars that I want to know about!:) Anyone tried them??

I've tried the deathbars and hated them. Have a custom incoming with Xbars though

Oh no!! What did u hate about them? How would you describe the general tone? (ie scooped or middley, compressed, open, bassy, trebley, etc) :)

Very scooped with highly exaggerated bass and treble

Oh dear, that's not what I like in a pickup at all!! I'd be really interested to know what you think of the X-bars when you get them :)

It'll be a while, the guitar is 4-6 months away from completion. That being said, a friend of mine tried the deathbars and x-bars and told me he preferred the Xbars by far and that they are totally different.

Ok, thanks. I have heard good things about the X-bars so I think I will try them :)
