Anyone know how to get the fizz out of the H&K Black Spirit200?

I've had a GM40D and sold it. Now I have the Black Spirit 200. Both amps have this inherent fizz in the distortion that seems impossible to dial out using only the amps controls. I wonder if the Triamp has the same fizz character (not like I can afford one anyways).

Is there anyone that does mods to remove the fizz and tighten it up a bit? I know Kruse Kontrol mods those amps but not sure if they remove the fizz, or what they do exactly.

Thanks.

Fwiw, I haven't tried an EQ pedal yet.

The inherent fizz is part of HK sound, each one has it, even Triamps. In combination with solid state power amp it is a recept for big headache ?
Even Bluamps (German ears ??) has this ‘transistor-ish’ sound and who says it sound and feel like tube amp than he never player even mediocre tube amp ?

Yep, That fizz is what has kept me away from H&K. I want to like them. I've only heard an H&K in a live setting a few times and the fizz isn't noticable but on it's own it drove me bat shit crazy.

That sucks to know. I was hoping there was someone who does a mod to get rid of the fizz.

I disagree about the Bluguitar amps. I have an Iridium, and I put it side by side with my 6505+ and Valveking and can barely notice a difference in both sound and feel. To me it is very tube like

That's good to know. When the one with effects eventually hits the streets I'm going to give it serious consideration.

Yeah that's going to be a dream come true when it comes out. I wouldn't need anything else. The Hughes and Kettner will help me fund that.

Pretty much. That into my cab and let er rip. I'm not a huge FX person so I'm sure whatever's in there will cover the bases. They need to HURRY with that thing!

YMMV of course. I played Iridium and there was very thin line on treble knob between dull and overly bright sound. It was maybe on par with Valveking but there is no chance to get 6505 power and mid cut in band settings. There is no person in this world which do not want 6505 sound in 1kg box, but there are still some physical rules which even German engeneers can't break :geek:

Me either. Little bit of delay and reverb is really what I use most. Maybe some light chorus with a clean sound. I kinda hope they have a separate foot controller for it though, I don't want to be stomping on it @ + $1600!

I also have a/b the Vk100 to the 6505+ adjusted to my taste...and honestly for me there is not a huge difference. Yeah the 6505 is a little more saturated (if I even understand what that term means/sounds like...), while the VK is a tad more dry (if that makes any sense).

All 3 cut well in the band mix to my ears. Of course if it doesn't just turn it up ?

A good parametric will cut any frequency at the right Q rate. And tho my old ears are not as good as they were(and I am not as smart as I was from years of chemical abuse),wouldn't that help cut the fizz you guys are talking about?

Having owned a H&K Tubemeister years ago, I learned a trick of maxing bass, middle but cutting treble to somwhere between 0 and 4 (or 7:30 and 10 o' clock-ish). That sound did work for me for both clean and drive, because otherwise the drive would indeed have this bright, hi-fi ish quality to it. Perhaps that trick will work on your Black Spirit 200?

I just got my Triamp MK III and holy hell what an amp. Fizz? There ain't no stinking fizz in this thing! Love the tones from this beast and the versatility is incredible.
One of the best guitar tones I ever heard live was a Triamp, it was the band Fuel. I will own one someday, came close a few times but it always fell through.

None of the Triamps I've played (and I've owned mark I and III) have had the same "fizz" inherent in the solid state and more budget models like the Grandmeister and Tubemeister (all of which I've owned)

Anyone who says so, probably played it through T75s or 70-80s or some super bright speaker with gain maxed, because that's the only way I know of to dial fizz into those amps.

I've tried every possible thing with it. Yes I would agree that cutting the treble does cut the fizz down a bit but it's still there. And when I a/b with my other amps, it just makes it still very noticeable even more so.

I feel like it needs the boost on for the brootz otherwise it is overly flubby.

Are you playing low volume bedroom levels? A lot of speakers can sound harsh at very low volumes until you turn them up a bit. Can't you go line out to your DAW with your amp?
