Thinking of moving to Vegas - are there any type of full time house gigs there or anything like that there?

I could do a hard rock Elvis set :) Maybe I can make Missy the first asian female Elvis impersonater. She actually has a really cool lower range in her singing voice...

I know for a fact you would crush at an hard rock version of Elvis and I am also sure Missy would tear that shit up!!

Serious note I bet house bands in Vegas is one hard fucking job to get, you will need something special and different to crack that nut.

check the Venetian, Darren....they have a GREAT hard rock band that has been playing there for a few years.....

Thanks man, I don't know anything yet - sounds like a cool band to check out. I'll be trying to see if I can even get a low $$$ off the stip gig... lol!

oh I know :) In Indiana before I moved to L.A. I made enough money playing I didn't need to work a day gig. Moved to L.A. just to work on originals - maybe Vegas will be a happy medium between the two :D

You'll have to do covers there (at least for a good paying gig), but there are tons of musos there, and plenty of venues for original projects

There's that but the competition is getting tough and its thinning out the herd so to say. A good cover band is always booked there, but even the best have been getting less and less lately. I have friends there that are looking for day jobs now that were gigging regularly and didn't need it 6 months ago. But I will say a good guitarist with a solid skills and vocal talent can be kept busy regularly.

Check with the agents. It's where I got all my gigs. Harmony Artist, Bad Kitty, West Coast Talent, M&M, etc.

I saw an ad for a guitarist wanted for a Prince band in Vegas, that promised a minimum of 38.000 a year. That was a while ago though.
I don't know what it costs to be local out there, but that seemed very decent.

I've been of the opinion for many years that the best cover bands in the world are in Vegas. I don't know how much opportunity there is to squeeze into the scene there but the housing market took a huge dive so there are probably still plenty of somewhat new, empty houses that need people in them.

Very cool man, I didn't even know the names of agents - gives me a place to start some research, thanks!!!!

rent is cheap - due to like a 20% unemployment rate and lots of vacancies as far as I know. I could easily live on that salary - and I'll feel extremely lucky if I land a gig like that!!!!

Yup, from what I can tell rent is very cheap - especially compared to L.A.  - I might be able to keep my current day gig and live in Vegas - that would be ideal.

My buddy does a "imitation act" at the Nugget. It is a full blown impersonation dealio for the singers (The Country Superstars). Competition is fierce - he is afraid to even take one night off in case they end up liking his stand-in better.

I saw alot of casino bands using modelers in Vegas.
