I already have two H-S strat types and my weapon of choice in the neck there is the dimarzio chopper because it matches hotter humbuckers like the JB and Aldrich. I borrowed a buddy's 91 american strat and I love the feel of this guitar. I almost want to sell everything as the neck feels just right. He doesn't play much anymore so has told me to go nuts and change the pickguard and pups if I want. He just wants someone to play it. The stock lace pickups suck. They have no jam... worse than the HS-3. I was thinking of trying out the GFS stuff http://www.guitarfetish.com/Premium-Ove ... p_630.html. For that singles tone I was hoping to get somewhere between the Blackmore and Norum tone spectrum. (When Norum played strats) Essentially, I want more balls and beef from a strat but still want to be in the single tone camp. I had thought of the dimarzio heavy blues but the exchange rate is crap right now and I can't see dropping 300+$ on dimarzios right now. Anyone try these and like them?

This is relevant to my interests. I have a HS hardtail Charvel that needs more oomph in the S position. I have it raised up as high as it will go but still not enough to match the JB in the bridge.

The DiMarzio FS-1 is great for what you want.

Norum and Gary Moore used it. Yngwie as well during the 80s. It is a true single coil, so you'll have some hum but i really like it.

I was planning on trying the Seymour Duncan Lil 59 in my strat. Clips sound good to me, but not sure if it's high enough output for you.

fek, go dimarzio chopper or Cruiser. They both will work with a higher output bucker. Cruiser gives you a bit more detail, chopper more balls. I am looking more in the all singles config department but need more gain. Had forgotten about the FS-1. I'll check it out.I still have a pro track that I could throw in the bridge as well and an area 58 I could throw in the middle... this might work.

I had the Lil Killer rail SC size pickups. I had both the Vintage wound and the Hot wound. I had a Duncan Saraceno in the bridge. The Vintage sounded nice but when I'd switch to it with some gain it'd be to clean compared to the Duncan. So I bought the Hot wound version and it was gainy but the tone was muddy and had no chime.
