If you own or have a lot of experience with Parkers, could you share some of your thoughts on them? What were you likes and dislikes?

Thanks.

Having worked at the Washburn Custom Shop, and putting together a lot of new (and warranty repair) Parkers........I have a severe dislike for them. I know a lot of guys who own them and love them, but here are my reasons:

-Carbon Fiber on neck and introduce warping as the guitar ages
-Piezo Electronics are often faulty from the factory, or may develop issues
-Frets are GLUED onto the carbon fiber fretboard with LOCK TITE...this really bothers me, and we used to have quite a few come in needing frets re glued

Those are my "as a perspective owner" reasons. My personal experience with having worked on them...sanded carbon fiber bodies, assembled and set them up.....Well I just hated working on the damn things.

The good:
-They're light
-They feel nice
-They sound pretty good

I prefer my PRS and almost all of the Washburn USA guitars that I put together over the Parkers, though. If I needed a stupidly versatile guitar, I might look at Parker. Most of the employees at the WCS hated the USA models, but absolutely adored the import models. I have to agree there, the imports are amazing bang for the buck.

YMMV, IMHO, in my experience, and all that crap.

I had a Nitefly years ago and I loved the way it felt and played until the neck warped. Wound up trading it for an 83 strat + $100 at that point. The store I work in now has one, I think it's a Mojo Fly but I'm not positive. Plays great as well. Not sure I ever will, but every now and then I think about getting another one.

Hey Jordon, what do you think about the Idol WI 566?

Parkers were my main guitars for about 10 years. I owned 4 of them a Nitefly, 2 Deluxes, and an Artist. They were built when Ken Parker still owned the company so I can't speak about the later ones. They played better than any guitar I've played before or since, the flat carbon fretboard and stainless frets made for a super slippery fast neck. Every person that ever played mine were always amazed at the playability, but were always underwhelmed with the sound compared to an all wood guitar. I tried several pickup changes which on a Parker require modification of the pickup, the original pickups use longer pole pieces under the A and B strings to attach the pickups to the guitar. I tried a Scream'n Demon, Full Shred, X2N, and a JB, It just never sounded full enough for me. The tone issued bugged me but the playability was so awesome that I lived with it. The real problem for me was the fact that the frets are glued on the fretboard, after about 7 years a couple frets fell off and that made me qustion the longevity of the guitars.

The Deftones are one of my favorite bands, but I've heard horror storries about their live shows. I love ATF and WP. I'll have to check out the new disc.

First, I love the entire Idol series. Even their import guitars are pretty nice for the money.

The WI566 is a very nice guitar, my favorite would be the WI590 and WI595, used to be called the "Opus" model. They played and sounded as nice as my Custom 22...course they cost similar coin, but yea. All of the USA Idols are awesome. We used to have a prototype WI568 sitting at the assembly/setup tables that was built with a PRS tremolo in it, it rocked hardcore.

I liked the thin/fast neck and ss frets, but I hated everything else. The upper horn kept poking my chest, the tone sounded very dull, and it was probably the most "toy-like" guitar I've played.

I played one at someone's house and i gotta say, it was one of the most thin sounding guitars i ever played.
