I'm going to be wiring my rig as soon as my solder station arrives and I wanted to make some speaker cable as well. I have a book at home that shows how to use SoundRunner 2-conductor cable and 1/4" ends to make some. It's the same cable you'd find inside the cab. Has anyone here used that cable to make speaker cable from the amp to the jack on the cab?

If not, what cable and ends have you used?

Thanks.

Dave

I have never used that particular cable, but I have used Carol 12/2 and 14/2 and the Dayton pro audio speaker cable (partsexpress.com brand). The Carol 12/2 was a huge pain to work with. I had to buy special 1/4in ends. I later converted those to speak-on which worked fine with that cable.

I used neutrick ends for the most part. Its not too difficult unless the cable is huge....

Thanks. I have both 14 and 12 gauge SoundRunner. The 12 gauge sucks to work with. It just seems odd to use it for a 1/4" jack terminated cable since it looks like plain old zip wire.

I decided that in the future I will use 12 gauge if I am doing speak-on connectors and 14gauge for 1/4". That's the easiest thing to do...

back in the day for speaker wire for the P A and monitors, we used electric extension cord, works great and cheap too, 100 ft cut in half, was 2, 50 ft speaker cable
