One for sale on CL in my area. I have one already, and am thinking about getting another one, OR getting a regular Hellatone 60 to pair with my 60L.

Just wanted to compare. I have some concerns that 2 60L's won't cut through live as well as a 60/60L mix in my 2x12.

I have 2 quads of the 60Ls and I dig them. They are a good mix of H30s and V30s. I've never used these live, but I wouldn't hesitate using them live...at least not with my rig.

I have one in a 2x12 with a greenback and it sounds like a good v30 should.

i love the Hellatone 60Ls. i have a pair on a Bogner OS2x12 (and another Bogner with regular V30s).

the 60Ls to my ears have a slightly darker, more scooped, more high-end cutting sound to them. (i play rock, hard rock, and metal through a Mesa Mark V and Bogner XTC.) i think they sound awesome, especially for heavier tones. they match great with my Mark V.

as for getting another one, they are hard to find. Avatar doesn't have them any more. they were a special variety of V30 made for the Marshall Mode Four cabs called Vintage 30 MF (if you compare the "T" Celestion model number stickers on the side of the magnet, those and the 60L are exactly the same model #.) you can find them on Ebay if you dig. i scored a bunch of spares. :)

as for pairing it with a V30, i would worry, because the speakers are pretty similar, about getting harsh phasing or comb-filtering in the overall sound. if the comb filtering cuts important frequencies or boosts harsh frequencies, it will sound harsh or weird.

(i had that once with a V30 and H30, probably because of the distance apart they were in that custom-designed cab.) so if you do pair it with a V30, you might want to score it used so you can flip it if you do get bad phasing.

Well, I already have the following speakers:

Hellatone 60L
WGS Reaper 50
Scumback H55
Scumback Blackback H75

...Since they're rare and there's one on CL, I thought I'd pick it up.

Hope this post is ok since I'm new to the forum. I have one of these ending today on Ebay. Mint condition. Bought it new for an 18 watt build that never happened. Compared to the Hellatone 60 that I ordered at the same time, it has a really smooth high end and tight bassy lows with no honky mids like the v30. Sounds similar to my Sidewinder but breaks up earlier. These are getting rare and hard to find so this might be one of the cleanest around. I'd say it still needs breaking in but Dave already did that.
