I subscribe on and off if I get a good deal.
Usually can pick up a year special for about $12.00
not bad for a $1.00 a piece for each mag.
Where do you find deals like this?
I buy subscriptions thru EBAY
or I get flyers in the mail wanting me to return as a previous subscriber discount.

Ebay has really cheap subscriptions though.

Check em out.

I still buy Guitar Player. Guitar world sometimes has cool shit, but most of the time it is shit.

I have boxes and boxes of them dating back to 1985.

Was thinking about dumping them on Ebay.

Same problem here. I probably have close to 350 guitar magazines from the 80's and 90's. Nowhere to keep them. I rarely buy new ones, but I did pick up the recent Premier Guitar magazine and I have to say I really like it. They do a good job of not being "cork sniffy", but also don't pander to mainstream trends.

I have them going back to 1976 ..... I could see selling them, are they worth anything ? I personally feel a lot of them like Guitar Player the web site is as good or better than the magazine.

My personal favorite is Premier Guitar and the one they are related Guitaredge is not bad. Subscribe free and back issues here.....

Did you ever subscribe to Blueboy?
Just on-line these days.

I still "She bop and He Bop" to it.

I buy a few various mags for reading in the facilities....

I still buy the UK Guitarist magazine every month and occasionally Premier Guitar but never Guitar World/Guitar Player

wow you weren't joking, you do have in depth tutorials! reading the Micing Electric Guitar article right now, very good stuff!

Thanks Khoi.

We really try to be different than the other publications because we haven't been satisfied with them as readers and musicians, too. Also, most "serious musicians" play more than one instrument, so it's nice putting everything in one large publication with sections covering guitar, bass, keys, drums, and recording. And yes, we have many different writers and editors in the different areas. People only write in the areas they have their professional experience or expertise in.

I well be checking it out ..... and welcome to the forum.

I get'em from time to time, just so I'll have something to read in the shitter.

I give Guitar World a quick glance each month while at the grocery store just to see if there's anything interesting. If there is I buy it. I still have most of my old guitar magazines from the mid to late 80's and 90's.

I pick up Guitar World. They usually cover at least one band/genre that I'm interested in, so it's rarely a total waste.

Guitar Player on the other hand has totally failed me recently. The only reason I still buy them is because 1) I get bored reading the same shit on the shitter, and 2) it's like watching a trainwreck. You know it's going to be bad, but you just have to look anyway.

Hell no! The magazines rehash the same old shit month after month. I also hate that you can buy January's issue in October?

They`re writing faster than they can print the stuff!!
And now they don`t manage to backlog so they`re in sync again :D

Remember how bad Guitar Shop magazine was ? It was published from the early to late 90s. Tons of errors in every issue and the writing style was that of a 15 year old HC reject.

I get a couple in a Christmas stocking every year and it's the only time I get them now. I do look forwood to them, but not enough to go buy them on a regular basis.

Not in a few years.

I gave away hundreds of old ones a few years ago. I kept 50 or so real cool old mags.

I take a look at them now and again if I happen to see them at a store. Not interested anymore.

I like vintage Guitar cause its huge like the old style mags. Premier Guitar guys are killer, read more online than the actual mag though. The dudes who run it are cool. I commented on how it seems like the same stuff gets reviewed over and over, bam ! next day my amp had a nice little review in there. very cool. I also got to do the builder profile in the same edition that they did the Les Paul memorial type thing.

some dude was moving and gave me his whole collection of guitar worlds and guitar players from like 88 on. the ads are the best part

Exactly my situation. I still subscribe to GP, GW, and VG but I rarely do more than hit a featured article of interest and check out the gear reviews (most of which you can take with a grain of salt).

I read this, but it`s swedish, and they don`t accept VISA or Paypal, so I just buy it in the store.
If I could pay them in a decent manner, I`d subscribe tomorrow.

Knut, that mag takes me back to the time when I moved to Sweden and went high school there, with just 3 years of Swedish studies under my belt. We had some free hours in between the lessons and I used to go to the library to read those Fuzz magazines they had there. I didn't understand a shit about them in the beginning. :hys:
