If so, show your rigs!!!

I stopped gigging with a half stack a few years ago because of back problems. I don't think I could ever go back.

Half stacks for me too! In fact, I just picked up another 4x12 last night...this mint Bogner!

I do!! But no access to pics. Its a 6505+ through an Avatar 412. However, I just got an Aftershock custom OS 212, and I'm gonna start gigging with that and leaving my Avatar set up for recording. The 212 is only 3 inches shorter than the 412, anyway, but its about half the weight!!

99% of touring bands involved with any sort of metal, hard rock, punk, etc still use half stacks or more. The little amp, big venue thing is largely an internet phenomenon and not practical for real small-time touring/gigging musicians. It's the old dude crowd with cover or bar rock/blues bands and non-touring gigs that get by on low-wattage combos. That's not going to fly for the rock band booked to play in a basement in the middle of Indiana or wherever else.

I don't gig but I would use 2 half stacks if I had the space on stage. I always been a 4x12 kind of guy regardless of volume levels.

i dont play out very often these days but when i do i like a half stack, usually my uberkab with uberschall rev blue or herbert.

Miss my Mesa sidearmor full stack. That was fun to play. Down to a half-stack now. It's nice to have the speakers at head level for clarity but overkill on most club gigs now.

I still like the look and sound of the full stack behind me.
It's not "necessary" at all these days, but how many big shows with big stages do you see sportin' a combo??
Gotta be RAWK!!

This is a smaller stage set-up. Still easier to build up, rather than out
This one is my avatar pic...

This was the set-up at Jannus Live in St.Petersburg last February. See the web site at jannuslive.com
Bigger stage and great lights.

Here's the pedalboard...
LiquidFoot Pro is linked to an Axe FX. The pedals are Petersen Tuner, EBJR Volume, Bad Horsie 2 Wah, Bearfoot Pale Green Comp, BB Pre
The second EBJR foot pedal above the LF PRO is for the Axe FX volume, but it is just always on in this case.

Yep. 3 halfstacks in a W/D/W if the the venue is big enough which is hardly ever. Mostly two halfstacks in stereo or a single halfstack for small stages.

2 full stacks, 1 full stack at minimum. I prefer the sound of just a half stack, but my band does have a specific stage plot, so I just go with it, I don't lift anything anyway

Right now I'm running a Diezel VH4 and a Marshall AFD in stereo through an Avatar 4x12 with 2 V30's and 2 Creambacks. VH4 is on loan from a friend...sounds HUGE!

I agree with this statement and I still use a 412 and sometimes even add a 212 with my hard rock band. HOWEVER, I saw my buddy's 80's cover band awhile back and he had absolutely monstrous tone with a Friedman Pink Taco and two 112 cabs. Usually I can't get on with the lunchbox amp tones...sure you can get them loud enough, especially when mic'd but they just don't have the big fat sound around each note the way a 100 water does. But that Friedman amp sounded huge!

yes. it's a tone thing. with my carol ann i preferred my 1x12 EV cab.
but my peacemaker is a 100 watt plexi amp and the 4x12 is a perfect fit live.
tone tubbies 2x12 at home

I had a Laney half stack, but never gigged, so I ended up selling it.

Some days I want to buy another one just because I like how loud that thing was.

Always a full stack for me , but a lot of the time I only run the bottom cab. Hearing your vocals through shitty monitors with a cab in you ear is pert near impossible. Stage pic from the other day
