Right now I am a JB or dimarzio AT-1 leaning towards the chopper in the neck position. Like the tones and feel. I'm wondering what this pickup is all about? A slightly less hot JB with a tad more tightness in the lows. Well, this is what my AT-1 is. It too seems a little less hot than a JB. The JB however, has that spongey magic in the mids. Just wondering if it offers anything different than these two or if it is just more or less in the same family.

I have one in my les paul, wrong pup for les paul, very mid heavy, tight and not too much top end. Not sure if I am going to keep it yet or not as I might not have a guitar for it.

How you described it interests me. I like tight bottom , mids, but not too much screechy top end. I'm surprised it wouldn't work in a Paul but I suppose it might be better suited to Alder.

Prob a JB or whatever carvin was using in their guitars at the time. I was perusing his site/forum and a lot of places he mentions using X guitar with whatever it came loaded with. The guy just gained it up and shredded it. Another vote for non boutique gear! I never thought his tone was that great but I did like the way this pup was described and the sounds he got on DLR's Lil ain't enough.

AT-1 with a 500k pot is designed to sound like a JB with a 250k, which is the correct pot value to use with a JB I'm hearing

I'm not so sure about that..it sounds a little more under control but the bottom end is tighter and and not as smeared as a JB. I have played a JB with 250k pots in two alder guitars and it didn't have the tight bottom that the AT-1 has. Apples and oranges though, it is all good fruit. I dig the AT-1and JB..

Don't take my word for it though, it's what I read somewhere (too lazy to find the link)

I think the AT1 is probably the better choice

I think i am going to step outside the box completely and try the Suhr Aldrich. Found one in the classifieds here, let's see what this thing is all about. I def like staying in the JB family and so far the AT-1 is my fave. Rather than loading another in my other guitar, might as well try something a little different.

It took all the chunk out of the les paul which is the whole reason you play one. I have thought about putting it in my warmoth strat which is alder, still deciding.

I would try a Suhr SSH+ if I were you. I just put one in a guitar and I can't put it down
