I am looking at getting some G12H30 type speakers. Since I have a 50Watt amp, I am looking at either the WGS reaper HP or Scumback H75 65Watt. Has anyone tried the Reaper or Reaper HP?

I really like the Celestion anni G12H30's I have in another cab.....

I've used the HP's paired with Vintage 30's for a short while. They are a bit different from H30's in that they aren't as loud and aggressive on the high end. Not quite as big in the lows either. More flat across the EQ range. I ended up deciding I preferred the real deal. Mojotone 30H's are closer to the original but they are 30 watts as well. I have a spare Mojo if you want it for cheap.

I have a mint Reaper 55hz I'll sell to you. I'm in Westland. Maybe you can come and get it.

Which 'original' G12H30's are you talking about? Rola G12H30s, Anniversary G12H30's, etc?

I found this old thread where you were loving the Reaper HP's. Are the Mojotone's now #1? I think WGS might make Mojotone speakers, much like the Weber/Scumback relationship. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=52915&hilit=Reaper

BTW, I should mention, I need 8ohm speakers.

I meant the Anniv's. The Anniv's are #1 to my ears. I even prefer them to the the Scumback H75 I had. Regarding that thread, I really liked the Reaper until it began to break in. At that point it started losing that "bite" that I like from the Celestions.

So how would your rank the G12H30 type speakers you have owned today?

BTW is your Mojo speaker 8ohms or 16ohms? How is it sounding as it is breaking in?

There are so many speaker options its mind numbing. I mean in G12H30's, I can think of the following:
Celestion Anni G12H30's
Celestion heritage G12H30's
Scumback H75
Weber 1230
WGS Reaper
Emi (can't remember the model now)
Mojotone BV-30H
ASW KT-70H
not to mention the vintage G12H30's and 55Hz versus 75Hz cone

I would say G12H Anniv, then Mojo, then everything else. I couldn't stand the Eminence Wizard. It sounds nothing like the H30 to my ears. My Mojo is 16 ohm BTW. It is broken in and still sounds great (not much of a change to be honest). It is ever so slightly brighter than the Anninv H30. But those highs are "smoother" and not as gritty. So even though its brighter, it doesn't have any ice-pick like the Anniv. can have if your not careful with the Treble...........if that makes any sense.

If you see any 8ohm Hellatone 30's or G12H30's for sale, let me know. I am looking for a pair. If you see any 8ohm Alnico golds let me know too. I know they are expensive, but they would work perfect for my Vox and I could move the G12H30's over to this other cab. I didn't see much when I looked yesterday.

Thanks for the offer. I think the 55Hz cone may be too deep/low in my 212 cab. Also, I am about 3.5 hours from Detroit, so I am not that close. I am actually closer to Chicago than Detroit.
