Anyone try Jet City Custom amps?

few guys on other forums have them and they seem happy.

seems to have its market but I have no interest in 20W versions of higher wattage amps. There’s so many lots of 2204’s and the ilk where you can spec whatever parts you like. Haven’t worked the prices out for UK, but I’d imagine a Modulus kit would work out better value and higher quality of parts.

At least the 50W and 100W Soldano clones gave a great entry point to the Soldano tone. I have a modded 100HDM and would rule out picking another up to keep stock for the HR100+ sound

They aren’t 20w, not sure why that’s there, they come in the 20w sized headshells

Ah last time I looked they were doing the 20W amps. Looks like they’ve run out of those until September though.

Equivalent price in the UK is £740+shipping and taxes so lets say £1000. Just as a comparison, I’ve either bought these in the last year or they can be regularly found for these prices:

Marshall 1979 JMP2150 100W: £500
Marshall 1988 2554 Jubilee 50W: £500
Marshall DSL100H/JCM2000: £350
Marshall JVM410: £650
Jet City 100HDM: £180
Laney VH/GH100R: £250
Peavey Triple XXX: £200
Peavey 5150BL: £500
Marshall 1959HW: £1000
Marshall 1976 JMP1992: £1150

A Modulus 2204 kit with Sozo caps, F&T filter caps etc would probably appeal to me more if I was after a HW Marshall clone. I think it’s a competitive price point these days, maybe in America where it’s harder to find deals on Marshalls it makes a bit more sense but I’d still probably hunt down something else for that money. Like a couple of the older Soldano based Jet City’s appeal more, even if they’re modded more towards a Marshall thing.
