Coming from the overly polished SD3 world, I have to say I am impressed with the realism of the sound. SD3 is awesome and there are choices for days but even the clean kits stripped of all effects sound way too good and too pro. Ugritone sort of knocks the quality down to what you might record at home or in a project studio. My only knock is that I feel they recorded/tuned their toms to be a bit too dead sounding but I like the sound of the crashes/ride/hats more than SD3. The snare also has more variance in the round robin. As awesome as SD3 is, the hats and the crashes just don't do it for me and are a tell. Ugritone is like 25$ a VST pack and there are usually a few snare choices in each.

Bit of a learning curve getting this all set up into Reaper with some latency but I suspect Reaper will do the same with SD3 if I open it from inside Reaper as opposed to stand alone. The cool thing is that there is MIDI mapping in the program for Slate or Superior so that you can throw the midi files you recorded in those programs into this one.

These def. aren't polished kits though so if you need that, looks elsewhere for sure! But I like how they sound like what I hear on isolated tracks from albums I love. (Rust in Peace etc)

Is it me or are the cymbals more raw and closer to what you hear when you record them? Even with expansion packs I am not wowed by SD3 brass
