Anyone use lower cap values in neck pickups?

I tried the .015 once (but I think it was on a P90), didn't like it as it left too much highs there (or was it high mids ?)

P90's aren't very dark... Kinda clanky actually...

.203 mp gets me there every time. actually, i think the stock 203 mp are a key to my sound.
and 250k pots.

203M would be a 0.02 uF. I think that's what I use as well

Well stock for most buckers is .0223, don't the 250 pots muddy your buckers?

maybe. didnt know any different for a long time, and didn't care to split the hairs. up until recently, i knew one of my les pauls sounded different and more pleasing to my ears than all the others, but i just kinda blew it off as a character thing. i've owned them all over 10 years... well, on another LP of the same model, one of the volume pots was fucking up, so i went to replace it, and it was 500k...i looked in my "ol faithful" and it had 250k pots. changed the newer value to 250k and also changed the tone pot to 250k. i can def tell the difference between those 2 with 250k and the other 3 with 500k. not necessarily bad, just differnt, but for that model les paul (the les paul studio light with the balsa body insert), they are bright sounding to begin with. now, i like it the way it is.
one other one will get 250k in them. im not sure what my ibby's have in them, but i suspect something similiar, as 2 of them i dont love, and one (ironically enough, the cheapest one) sounds great to me....

instead of modding the cap in the tone pot what about the treble bleed (should be keep) mod

330k res and 680pf cap. attach to in and out of volume pot.

if the problem is too muddy then keeping the treble is what you want like .015 tone pot thing.. try that then

i've actually started (since modding my amps actually) to contemplate and map out some stuff like this..one of my guitars i REALLY dont care what i do to it aestetically, so, im thinking some dpdt on/on switches with some different configurations of caps, resistors, would be really cool to experiment with. the treble "keep" mod has always intrigued me, but i like the subdued tone that a pickup gets when i roll back the tone knob. there's gotta be a way to keep that (stock) and have a treble bleed (mod) wired into a dpdt on/on switch. i just havent wired it yet, but have it mapped out like i said.

Yeah not so much a volume treble desire, as having more usable range for the neck pickups, not having 10 be unusable mud.

i wish i could figure out a way to put some more honk into my pickups....how would you do that....lower or increase the cap value?

I'll use a 250k pot if the guitar is too bright. I just put one in my Strat that had a maple board and was way too harsh. Sounds great now.
