Piecing together a small PA, probably going to use either a A&H Zed12fx or 22fx board, and was thinking about a qsc gx5 for the mains and then later on either adding another gx5 or gx3 for monitors. Have looked at the powered speakers qsc makes and they kick ass, but are not in the budget for now.

Any pro's or con's on the GX series amps?

The gx's are shallow depth, so they fit in a rack well, but are a little short on power. If you're not looking for much volume, you'll be fine. If you start pushing them hard, you'll red line really fast. If you can, at least step up to the gx7. It'll have a little more headroom. Remember, you always want to double the power handling capacity of your speakers. Nothing fries a driver faster than a square wave sent from an amplifier with too little juice.

Ack. Maybe I should look at the Carvin line then. HD1500 ultra light is on sale for 329.
