The billions spent can do much more good on earth
Like wipe out hunger.
All new infrastructure
Pay off everyones mortgage and rent.
Free elaborate national health care system for all.
Curing disease.
Eliminate drug cartels.
The homeless problems
The mentally ill wasting away in jails and assuylums
Maybe im sounding like a socialist but there has to be a better way to spend money.

Good points but overall it's understandable that Americas supremacy in space pushed the country (amongst other factors) ahead vs every other country in the world and IMO that ain't a bad thing
